+1. It's the same argument, over and over. Clearly, they or a loved one didn't get in. So don't apply! You do have choices! OP will find most of them more expensive |
| UVA basically was a law school for 200 years, which then tried to rebrand itself as a liberal arts school by branching out in the sciences. Thus they think they can charge premium for engineering. |
You get points for being Cute.
UVa’s Engineering School is over 100 years old… |
+1 Absolutely ridiculous. |
Then they should use their endowment to lower tuition prices, don't you think?
|
so not true. please post evidence for your assertion |
A) endowments aren't used that way B) $13 billion is chump change in the world of. higher ed. Harvard's is $60B |
|
For students who have demonstrated Financial Need, UVa does have substantial scholarship funds available (largely thanks to its endowment, some of which is set aside specifically for need-based scholarships).
As an example, there are the Blue Ridge Scholarships. |
DP. Umm... Virginia Tech?? |
No, it's not. The PP is clearly an arrogant UVA booster. DP |
| Going woke isn’t cheap. Look at what they spend on DEI programs (https://www.openthebooks.com/substack-university-of-virginia-spends-20-million-on-235-dei-employees-with-some-making-587340-per-year/#:~:text=The%20University%20of%20Virginia%20(UVA,annual%20cost%20of%20their%20benefits. ) People are paying a lot of money for HS 2.0. But the gullible keeping applying and going in droves. |
| So don’t apply. Problem solved! They won’t miss you. They fill it in a heartbeat. |
+1. I have too have posted about how UVA / in state tuition is not necessarily the bargain everyone thinks it is. And for the other jerk, my DC was accepted at UVA and wouldn’t even look at it/visit. He found a higher ranked program at another states flagship for less money. PS - why is Va Tech COA like $5k lower than UVA (at least for engineering)? |
Endowments are used for the purpose the donors specify.. |
VA Tech =30,000 students, UVA= 17,000 |
