But no one backs up the charge and I could not find anything on the normal fact-checking sites like Snopes.

Where is this false rumor coming from and why are people spreading it?

Melania's father was a communist big wig in Slovenia and had a red Mercedes. Ruining people's lives with communist accusations died with McCarthy.

And Trump was a Democrat. Wise people recognize their mistakes and change their behavior.

You credit Trump with wisdom? Unbelievable!

2) so?

This is a feature not a bug.

That's a hard stop.

Communism / Marxism are NOT compatible with our Constitutional Republic.

I’ve had quite my fill of our constitutional republic nonsense. I’m ready to try something else. Hopefully Harris will be a positive first step to something better.

He seems to agree with Marx's ideas about capital. But, as far as I am aware, he doesn't address concepts such as dialectical materialism or other Marxist political beliefs.

If you look into his writings, there is nothing that revolutionary about them. Like many economists, he does not believe that the free market, left to itself, will result in satisfactory outcomes. Therefore, he supports government intervention. His Marxist ideas are evident due to his emphasis that this intervention should be aimed toward economic equality. It is always dangerous when academic writings which are normally full of nuance and qualifications are reduced to a political one-liner. So, the answer to your question, strictly speaking, is that Harris' father was a scholar of communist and Marxist economics, there was nothing secret about it, but that there is no evidence that he is "communist" or "Marxist" as those terms are commonly understood in America.

Do you mean there is no evidence that he paid dues to the Communist party?

No, I mean that there is no evidence that he espouses the political theory that is commonly considered "communism" in the US.

One may read the Bible and decide that it has some good points and integrate those few points into their own personal ethics. That does not make them a Christian.

Isn’t Trump a convicted criminal?

Who cares! Move on.

Who cares if he is, in fact, a Marxist.

There are plenty of evidence. Lets start with the first one. Marx proclaimed that the function of the family is to maintain the capitalist structure of society, hence believing that nuclear family should not exist in the communist society. Donald Harris broke up his family.

Shall we continue what other Marx's principles he and Kamala integrated into their lives?

You seems lost. This is not a presidential thread. This thread is to discuss a specific professor. If you don't care about his achievements and his contributions to this country, move on.

You have differing standards based on what party the candidate belongs to.

Which party does Harris' father belong to?

Is he a candidate for office? No? Then he doesn't belong to a party.

+1 I mean, Trump's ILs are actual communists. MAGA don't seem to care.

Excellent point.

I am more concerned with Trump's facist views than the views of Kamala's father.

as a reminder the definition of Facism: is a far-right authoritarian, ultranationalist political ideology characterized by a dictatorial leader, forcible suppression of opposition.... and so on.

If this is not a presidential thread, why is it in politics? Kamala's father was not a politician.

Because politics are not limited to presidents.

Both, Melania's parents and Kamala's dad are communists. There is nothing wrong with people having a freedom to affiliate with the party of their choice. This is a free country and communists (especially immigrant communists) are welcome here (especially in US academia).

right, however the only reason KH father is mentioned is due to KH being a political figure. stop trying to gaslight
