This is a feature not a bug.

That's a hard stop.

Communism / Marxism are NOT compatible with our Constitutional Republic.

There is a difference between economic systems and political systems.

Trump wants to be an authoritarian and ignore the will of the people or the congress. That is even more incompatible with the Constitution.

But no one backs up the charge and I could not find anything on the normal fact-checking sites like Snopes.

Where is this false rumor coming from and why are people spreading it?

The answer to your last question is that many lower information voters use certain buzz words that they may or may not thoroughly understand — to mean “bad”, or unacceptable. There will be voters who are sophisticated enough to deny holding any prejudice against Harris as a woman, or as a biracial Black-Indian American, so they will insist that she’s a “communist” — because of her “communist” father. Such arguments often break down when you ask questions like:” Can you define communism, and show me how her policies and thinking are indicative of being a Communist?”

I would never accuse the right of being low information - that's reserved for the left who trusts the state.

You have differing standards based on what party the candidate belongs to.

Which party does Harris' father belong to?

Is he a candidate for office? No? Then he doesn't belong to a party.

+1 I mean, Trump's ILs are actual communists. MAGA don't seem to care.

Then Trump must be married to a communist, and their son must be a communist, as well.

Really? How hold was Harris when her parents divorced?

THIS! I can't believe people are going on and on about the politics of the father when the reality is that 1) Kamala did not spend that much time with her father growing up and 2) they have been estranged for a while. It was her mother that had the most influence on her, not her father. But MAGA tries to keep making that connection because it supports Trump's line of attack that she is a "radical leftist Marxist" etc.

From her Wiki page:

By 1970, the marriage had faltered, and Shyamala moved back to California with her two daughters;[12][13][9] the couple divorced when Kamala was seven.[14] In 1972, Donald Harris accepted a position at Stanford University; Kamala and Maya spent weekends at their father's house in Palo Alto and lived at their mother's house in Berkeley during the week.[15] Shyamala was friends with African-American intellectuals and activists in Oakland and Berkeley.[11] In 1976, she accepted a research position at the McGill University School of Medicine, and moved with her daughters to Montreal, Quebec.[16][17] Harris graduated from Westmount High School in Montreal in 1981.[18]

So Kamala was 7 when her parents divorced and 13 when she, her mother, and her sister moved to Montreal where she lived until she finished high school. Her father was back in the US. It's highly unlikely that her father had much of an effect on her politics given that history.

Not only do MAGA not care (it's just as likely they don't know) that Melania's father was a Communist but once again MAGA and Trump are projecting--claiming that Kamala and her father are "Marxists" whereas the only ACTUAL Communist is Melania's father.

Some more details and a small correction:

According to this article, Viktor Knaus was a registered member of the Yugoslavian Community Party, not his wife. The article points out that his membership was "pretty exceptional, as at that time only around five per cent of Slovenians were Communist party members." Additionally, "in line with their father’s officially atheist beliefs, Melania and her sister Ines weren’t baptised and didn’t make their first holy communion with the town’s other children." [The horror! Does MAGA know Melania has not been baptized and did not grow up with religion?"] At that time in Yugoslavia (as in other Communist countries), membership in the party afforded access to jobs and a higher standard of living than non-members had. Knaus was an opportunist, if nothing else, much like his daughter.

Weekends at her fathers house so she probably had more quality time with him that during the work week with mom.

yet, she credits her mother more.

According to your post, Melania and her son must be communists because her son was very close to his grandparents, probably more so than Trump.
