So Kamala was 7 when her parents divorced and 13 when she, her mother, and her sister moved to Montreal where she lived until she finished high school. Her father was back in the US. It's highly unlikely that her father had much of an effect on her politics given that history.

Weekends at her fathers house so she probably had more quality time with him that during the work week with mom.
