Literally every school has a "barstool" account that insults the other teams. That is nothing to get worked up about

What other schools?

Congrats to Oakton! But please keep in mind that accolades are popularity contests with the coaches’ favorites getting the best awards and are generally not based on ability. Please keep this in mind when you read about all district, all region and all state awards. Some pretty mediocre players have come away with very high accolades. Of course, there are some exceptions to that rule. The state player of the year last year only had 5 goals all season but Oakton won the state so …..

She was an excellent player who committed to Lehigh (though ended up deciding not to go). Far from mediocre.

Goals are just one metric. And probably most important if one is a forward, which she was not.

I'm not going to argue with you. She was a great all around player, a senior, and on a top team (state semi finalist). She deserved it imo.

Probably got the ball inserted to her 10x a game during offensive corners tho…

I'm agreeing with you. IMO goals are just one piece of the puzzle and are more important if you're a forward. Middies have a different job, and she was very good at hers.

Lake Braddock and Woodson announced 11 district honors each. Fairfax had 9, plus player of the year again.

Just keep in mind that coaches can nominate as many players as they want and can withhold nominations.

The McLean coach last year nominated every senior on her roster and some didn’t see the field all season.

1st and 2nd team are voted on by other coaches (ie consensus across each district). honorable mention are basically named by each coach and more free for all.

Got to pipe in here. Fairfax POY is a middie and she had 20+ goals last year and almost 20 this year. So your opinion that middies have a different job does not hold water. Players who are considered the best player on the team, whether they are or not, are taking the shots on corners so their goal count should be at a premium.

Some teams choose to stop scoring if they are crushing the other team or the game ends early (mercy rule) so there's no opportunity to have that many goals even if they are killing it and scoring many goals.
