I bet you’re SO fun at parties!…

…if by chance you ever get invited to any.

No one wants to go to your parties with garbage American foods like pigs in a blanket, deviled eggs, potato salad, and any variant of a dip. You might as well be holding a conagra or campells stock holder convention because all you have at your parties are nasty ultra processed American foods.

How are deviled eggs, hummus and guacamole (the last two dips I served) and potato salad made from scratch "nasty ultra processed American foods"?

That's the same PP who couldn't explain how this recipe for sloppy joe's is processed food.

1 tablespoon butter
▢1 pound lean ground beef (85/15)
▢1 small onion chopped (4 ounces)
▢1 teaspoon Diamond Crystal kosher salt (or ½ teaspoon of any other salt)
▢¼ teaspoon black pepper
▢1 tablespoon fresh garlic minced
▢½ cup unsweetened ketchup
▢½ tablespoon balsamic vinegar

Just a moron with an axe to grind since the land of opportunity clearly didn't work out for her.

Bet she comes back and claims to be wealthy and educated though. That's how it usually works with internet liars.

We were not a Sloppy Joe family. They did serve them at school lunch.
Our guilty pleasure was Kraft Mac n Cheese in the box, orange powder not the can, and a can of tuna. Put chun king fried noodles on top for gourmet touch.

I was laughing about this the other day. It’s also my guilty pleasure as an adult. I remember Michelle Obama saying powdered cheese isn’t real food. And then I watched a prepper trad wife make a video on dehydrating cheese and then….grinding it into a powder. 😂

Would you like beef with your ketchup?

I think you mean figuratively.

Hamburger helper is the name of a convenience food that made a dish more convenient. It’s literally beef, gravy, cream and noodles. I’m sure it existed long before the name. We now add sour cream and call it stroganoff.

Sloppy joes are basically chili. Which is also beef, tomato sauce and spices. Also a meal that has existed for God only knows how long.

We do? Now? I don’t know anyone who’s eaten stroganoff in 40 years.

I absolutely do (maybe once a year) make beef stroganoff. I use Sam Sifton’s recipe, though there are many other “grownup” versions out there.

Deviled eggs are devoured in the first 10 minutes of my parties.

I mean what do you expect? You have Americans at your parties. Americans eat dumpy foods. So really not surprising here....

As are pigs in a blanket!

Am I the only one who still makes shepherd’s pie? My mom made it growing up and it’s the most requested dinner for my teen boys. Gordon Ramsay’s recipe is what I use but I usually just buy mashed potatoes to save time.

I haven’t made meatloaf in years but this thread is inspiring me to bring it back.

I can't really imagine going to someone else's country and posting vomit emojis about other people's food, or calling it "dumpy" or "nasty".

If your palate is so limited that you reject another region or country's food, then you're not sophisticated, you're a picky eater. Which is fine, but you need to recognize that it's a problem you have, and keep those childish xenophobic thoughts to yourself.

Are you also the ‘Costco is low class’ poster?

Another household that regularly eats homemade sloppy joes. Never was a fan of Shake and Bake or Hamburger Helper. We did used to eat Spam, which no one seems to eat anymore. And I am very very glad to never see or smell liver and onions, after suffering more than my share of it growing up.

Thank you for saying this. Can you imagine if the original post was about some other country’s comfort food and people were as rude about it and the people who eat it?

I still make hamburger helper sometimes. I add sautéed mushrooms and peas and some herbs from the garden. I love sloppy Joes, but haven't made them in ages.

DH loved his hamburger helper and shake and bake when I met him. I guess his mom made them a lot growing up. He would be thrilled if I made this for him. We do eat sloppy Joe’s from time to time. DH and I love them but the kids don’t.
