I loved those as a kid. There were commercials and everything for sloppy Joe. Same with Hamburger Helper. Loved it! Shake and Bake, I could not get enough! Sometimes I do still buy it but I miss the hype of knowing other people who also had it for dinner recently. No one I seem to run into still eats these “classics” - yes, they are classics to me. |
We had hamburger helper last night though not from the box. And I have a few batches of sloppy Joes in the freezer! |
I make a lentil sloppy Joe. I tried making hamburger helper like 15 years ago out of nostalgia and was grossed out. |
My kids begged to try sloppy Joes. Two out of three liked them. I hate them -- I did when I was a kid, too.
I'll throw in tuna noodle casserole. |
We eat sloppy joe’s sometimes too. I make them from scratch instead of the Manwich from my childhood, but they’re a comfort food favorite at our house. |
I make sloppy joes - but not the premixed in a can kind. Very easy to make with Tom sauce, onions, celery, green pepper and much more flavourful. |
Homemade sloppy joes are great |
I also love sloppy joes once in a while but now make them homemade and use a lot less sugar. My kids like them once in a while.
I also have tuna casserole, meatloaf, and chicken pot pie once a while. Comfort food and it’s easy on weeknights. |
I used to love shake and bake as a kid. In retrospect, my mother was a terrible cook who had no idea how to bread meat |
We make and love sloppy joes. We make them with a soy meat substitute but the full sugar canned sloppy Joe sauce. |
Now you've got me hungry! My mom made absolutely delicious sloppy joes from scratch. Off to text her for the recipe...
(I'm not a food snob but Hamburger Helper/Maniwch/etc gross me out) |
My mom stockpiled Campbell’s cream soups of all varieties- mushroom & celery come to mind and put them in every other recipe. She generally stockpiled canned goods too - everything g er ate or drank came from a can- peaches, green beans, spinach, orange juice concentrate, apple juice, Hawaiian Punch. |
It's garbage American food. Literally dumpster food invented by food manufacturers to coerce Americans into using their ultra processed food products. This is why 'american food' is such a joke.. sloppy joes are the grossest trash ever invented. A poor cow had to die to create that monstrosity of a dish. |
sigh. |
I was at a restaurant recently and saw a brisket sloppy Joe on the menu! |
