Foods/Meals people no longer seem to eat. Ex: Do people no longer eat sloppy joes?

This is why 'american food' is such a joke.. sloppy joes are the grossest trash ever invented. A poor cow had to die to create that monstrosity of a dish.

Rearrange the ingredients of sloppy joes and you have pasta bolognese.

Sloppy joe is just a meat stew that almost every culture has served on bread

I agree. It’s cheap processed food for the masses. I’ve never had it neither have my kids. We’re not rich by any means but I just can’t…..

1 tablespoon butter
▢1 pound lean ground beef (85/15)
▢1 small onion chopped (4 ounces)
▢1 teaspoon Diamond Crystal kosher salt (or ½ teaspoon of any other salt)
▢¼ teaspoon black pepper
▢1 tablespoon fresh garlic minced
▢½ cup unsweetened ketchup
▢½ tablespoon balsamic vinegar

Yes, this sounds horrendous! I might die from it!

Hmm. So what do you eat?

I bet you’re SO fun at parties!…

…if by chance you ever get invited to any.

How exactly is it processed? What are you eating that isn't "processed"? That doesn't really mean what you think it does.

There's no chance that PP has friends. Funny how it's only Americans that are duped into eating bad foods or whatever. I'm sure she comes from a country that's SO MUCH BETTER. That's why she's here.

I like Sloppy Joe meat served over rice. I use the McCormick spice packets.

Sometimes I do still buy it but I miss the hype of knowing other people who also had it for dinner recently. No one I seem to run into still eats these “classics” - yes, they are classics to me.

So much salt in both the meals you mention. No thanks! But, why does it matter what other people eat?

My Sloppy Joe's recipe is at home and I'm at work, but I make it at least twice a month with ground turkey, but it doesn't use ketchup or vinegar - tomato paste and BBQ sauce. It's homemade except for the BBQ sauce (I include diced peppers and carrots), and one of the things my college kid regularly requests when home.

I like it because the kids can eat it on a bun or on pasta, and I can put it over lettuce. I've never done that with bolognese, although I will serve either on pasta zero or TJs hearts of palm pasta.

My mom used to make meatloaf, and I rarely do. When my kids were younger I occasionally made meatloaf in a cupcake tin and frozen leftovers.

Also, there were lots of casseroles made with "cream of _____" soups in our house growing up, and I don't make any of them.

I think you mean figuratively.

Hamburger helper is the name of a convenience food that made a dish more convenient. It’s literally beef, gravy, cream and noodles. I’m sure it existed long before the name. We now add sour cream and call it stroganoff.

Sloppy joes are basically chili. Which is also beef, tomato sauce and spices. Also a meal that has existed for God only knows how long.

Garlic AND pepper in a dish? Are you trying to kill someone?

Nobody seems to eat water chestnuts anymore. I want to bring them back!
