You think this "ought to be true" based on your mental image of the school, but do you have any facts to back it up? |
Dp, I agree. William and Mary may just pull a more qualified applicant pool, Davidson is a bit more of a niche school. Accepted students stats are more meaningful with respect to selectivity than acceptance rate, which always is lower when a school uses ED. Davidson, like many slacs, also accepts a lot more students test optional than William amd Mary. Peer schools with a slight edge to William and Mary on selectivity. |
OP, take note of this. It isn’t BS no matter what people say. We are a Virginia family and 80%+ of the kids we know at W&M are either nerdy or smart theatre kids. There is a type of kid that gravitates towards W&M. These are not the same kids that would gravitate towards Richmond. Both are great schools academically, but definitely have a different vibe from one another. Go when school is in session and tour. Your DD will know pretty quickly which she prefers. |
You think on average a w&m student will make it into Davidson? |
William and Mary accepts anyone with a pulse. If they're breathing, the college will take them in. Only on DCUM do people try to gaslight you into believing otherwise. |
OP please ignore the trolls. Holy moly. |
Yes, Davidson is no where near as difficult to get into as one or two parents on here continually assert. |
Someone has upset Davidson mom. Ignore her, op. |
Not even a Davidson mom, just not obsessed with a random state college. |
Davidson great school, William and Mary great school. Facts are always good.
Davidson Middle 50 SAT Reading/Writing 690-750 SAT Math 670-760 ACT 31-33 W&M Middle 50 SAT Reading/Writing 700-750 SAT Math 670-760 ACT 32-34 Data from the schools' respective websites Davidson has a low admit rate because it is a great school that is small. Don't need many applications when you aren't taking many students. Some here don't like public schools. So be it. |
Everyone here loves public schools. Critiquing W&M or UVA is a death sentence on DCUM. It's weird and obsessive. |
you had me at “less woke” - junior, we’re going to Richmond! |
Well, 24% of the students at Richmond major in business, compared to 12% at W&M, if that statistic means anything to you. But my view is based on vibes experienced as someone who spent much time on each campus between the ages of 15 and 21. Happy to be proven wrong! |
Warning! They used to have a split mens and women's college that they are now trying to destroy because of these "non binary" read mentally ill students are butting in |
