I had an epiphany today: I don’t hate trump - I hate his supporters.

Anonymous
I don’t hate them. I feel sad for them that they have been taken in by a narcissistic cult leader that is a savant at telling people what they want to hear and slippery enough that his followers write off all his repulsive statements (that are catering to other groups) as just him joking.

This is fueled by media echo chambers.

I am angry the complicit leaders on the right that see what is going on care more about their own power than democracy.

I know and I dislike them.

Perhaps you should write them a sternly worded letter like Hans Blix threatened in team America.

Your lack of self-awareness is well expected.

I am not on the side of limiting individual freedoms. I sleep well at night.

A loudmouth buffoon who will soon be humiliated at the polls again, and then spend what may be the rest of his life in a New York state prison as a 34 count convicted felon facing possibly 14 decades at sentencing, if he doesn’t flee the country first - which I suspect he will. Either way, he’s soon to be gone and won’t be our problem anymore.

But the 50-odd million people who will probably still vote for him this November aren’t going anywhere. And those are the people I really, truly, viscerally despise. Because they gave trump his power. Without these imbeciles, trump would be nothing. He’d literally have the same influence as a crazy screaming homeless man shouting at no one in a city park. That’s what trump would be without the millions of supporters who give him his power. These are the the people I hate. Not trump. trump is just a symptom. His supporters, his sycophants - they are real problem. The disease.

It really made me sad when I came to this realization today, because until now, I assumed that things were going to be awesome after the election and we’d never have to suffer his buffoonery again. But then I realized his supporters aren’t going anywhere. They’re still going to be around regardless of whatever happens to him. And that infuriated me.

I just don’t know how to get past this. I’m just consumed with anger at the realization that probably should’ve occurred to me earlier, but didn’t. I was so consumed with hating trump that I wasn’t able to see who I truly should’ve been hating even more. And now realizing that these people will still be around after he goes away, it just ruins everything.

Very upset tonight. Can barely contain my rage.

We should be friends!,,
Love this post to my very core!
Thank you!

You are not alone

You sound exactly like a relative of mine. She is completely off balanced and full of rage at the other side, just as you are. She has been fired from jobs and lost most of her real life friends because of her overwhelming emotional response to political situations that don’t sit well with her. She essentially lives her life on Facebook firing off tirades against any and all who may disagree with her view of the world.

I’m purposely not saying which side my cousin is on, because it doesn’t matter when someone is this extreme in their emotional response. Don’t end up like my cousin, OP, it’s a sad and lonely way to live.

Must be very painful indeed to realize that no matter how loudly you scream about it, you simply cannot make others do what you want them to or think the thoughts you insist they should.

It’s funny because no doubt you’re one of the LWNJs calling Trump voters “fascists.” Yet the reality is that you would like nothing more than to control the thoughts and actions of half the country. You absolutely epitomize fascism.

Yep, agree 100%.

I’m sorry you are telling the world on social media Maga behaviors are ok ?

Dictatorship
Kings

Yeah those don’t limit or free speech?

Did you pass third grade?

And voting omg the core of being an American our right to vote Trump said it himself you done have to ever worry about voting again per Trump! WTH is wrong with you?

Nothing is more important than our right to vote Republicans suing in all swing states to take that away and install a dictatorship and you are too stupid to understand what that loss will be .

Go back to school

If you look historically, Hitler took over Germany by placing loyalists in every part of the German government after his election, in order to gain legitimacy and grow his power.

He destroyed German democracy from within.

Project 2025 is exactly the same plan.
Agenda 47

It’s on his own website you idiot

Maybe they are just… bad people?

Why doesn’t anyone consider this is possible?

This country has always had lots of bad people. Look how much Jim Crow laws were accepted and how hard people fought against desegregation.

Some percentage of the electorate is just lousy and have to be dragged into civilization by the rest of us kicking and screaming.

You should stop eating to protest all the deplorables that grow your food. Let us know how that works out.

Sure, some people are bad but there are plenty of decent Trump supporters. They’re misguided by right wing media and other factors. But they’re not all bad people.

Well their hero addressed their desire to try to force women to give birth. Nothing about that is resonating with the majority of the country. It is going to lose him the election.

Give us explicit facts how Trump is forcing women to give birth. Because the loss of RvW happened under Biden.

You can't possibly actually be this stupid, can you?

Roe was overturned by the Supreme Court, the Executive branch had nothing to do with it and literally could not have anything to do with it even if they wanted to, and I guarantee you they wanted to. It's one of the most basic tenets of separation of powers in the United States. The Supreme Court justices who led the charge were right wing judicial activists, three of which were hand picked by Trump.

I can only assume you're either a foreign troll, a disingenuous right wingers, or just an absolute moron, because those are really the only possibilities for someone being so unbelievably ignorant of basic 3rd grade civics.

Or, maybe they just believe different things than you and think that things are going in the absolute wrong direction like most of the country.
The left believes that a man can declare himself a woman and then compete in women's sports. I personally think that is crazy, but I don't think the left is bad because of it.
Many on the left thinks that illegal immigration isn't an issue and we should allow illegal aliens to live and work in the US. I personally think that is crazy and a risk to our economic and national security, but I don't believe the left are bad people because of their beliefs.
There are many beliefs the left, collectively, has which I am vehemently opposed to, but I don't think they are bad people.

The problem here is that the right thinks the left are decent people with bad policies and the left thinks the right are just bad people.
This thread pretty much confirms that.

Half of Americans are bad people? Really? And they need to be dragged by you kicking and screaming. Very enlightening of you.
