I had an epiphany today: I don’t hate trump - I hate his supporters.

Anonymous
I’ll preface this by stating the obvious truth: I hate trump, yes, of course. Who doesn’t? But at the end of the day, trump is just an irrelevance. A loudmouth buffoon who will soon be humiliated at the polls again, and then spend what may be the rest of his life in a New York state prison as a 34 count convicted felon facing possibly 14 decades at sentencing, if he doesn’t flee the country first - which I suspect he will. Either way, he’s soon to be gone and won’t be our problem anymore.

But the 50-odd million people who will probably still vote for him this November aren’t going anywhere. And those are the people I really, truly, viscerally despise. Because they gave trump his power. Without these imbeciles, trump would be nothing. He’d literally have the same influence as a crazy screaming homeless man shouting at no one in a city park. That’s what trump would be without the millions of supporters who give him his power. These are the the people I hate. Not trump. trump is just a symptom. His supporters, his sycophants - they are real problem. The disease.

It really made me sad when I came to this realization today, because until now, I assumed that things were going to be awesome after the election and we’d never have to suffer his buffoonery again. But then I realized his supporters aren’t going anywhere. They’re still going to be around regardless of whatever happens to him. And that infuriated me.

I just don’t know how to get past this. I’m just consumed with anger at the realization that probably should’ve occurred to me earlier, but didn’t. I was so consumed with hating trump that I wasn’t able to see who I truly should’ve been hating even more. And now realizing that these people will still be around after he goes away, it just ruins everything.

Very upset tonight. Can barely contain my rage.

I heartily dislike MAGAS but I also feel sorry for them to be taken on by a snake oil shill who give two hoots in Hell about them. I wonder how many will drink the koolaid.

OP, I feel sorry for you. What’s it like to be consumed by rage and hate for million people whose political views don’t align with yours? Must be very painful indeed to realize that no matter how loudly you scream about it, you simply cannot make others do what you want them to or think the thoughts you insist they should.

It’s funny because no doubt you’re one of the LWNJs calling Trump voters “fascists.” Yet the reality is that you would like nothing more than to control the thoughts and actions of half the country. You absolutely epitomize fascism.

Oh, I’ve always thought this. Trump is the symptom, not the disease. In fact, it’s a gift that of all the grifter con artists that would aim for the presidency, an incompetent and unpopular person like Trump would be the person that would put that stress test on our system.

In fact, Trump has helped us discover that our country is shielded by the awesome power of the presidency only by a series of norms and the honor system. A corrupt president can appoint an attorney general who will torpedo investigations against him, Supreme Court justices who will protect him, federal judges who will dismiss cases against him.

We should have learned this lesson in 2000 when the Supreme Court handed George W. Bush the presidency, but we didn’t.

As for the citizens who voted for him, these are people who have been failed by our education system. They don’t know when they are being scammed and they are easily manipulated by using their fears and frustrations against them. Our problems are very, very vast. But I think in the end the younger generations will persevere and good will triumph.

Lol. Just so you know- many of your neighbors, acquaintances and coworkers are Trump supporters (or Trump voters, at least). We just all keep our opinions to ourselves in public.

You don’t know what fascism is and don’t understand that millions of peoples political views don’t align with their own morals. Trump is a cult. People are voting against their own self interests.

OP, I wish you better days ahead. Perhaps therapy and medication could help soothe your clearly troubled soul. How debilitating to be so filled with hate.

Excuse me, crazy person? Shades of 2016 and 2020, when smug, sanctimonious liberals insisted that Trump voters just “didn’t understand” what they were voting for. No, the truth is that you actually think you’re the arbiter of what is right and what is wrong. You’re not. You’re just a pathetically ignorant and controlling individual, and no doubt have been all your life. I’m so sorry for anyone who has to live with you. How miserable.

The Kool- Aid must be so so good.
Millions of people around the world know what’s right and what’s wrong. Leading an insurrection to stop certifying an election is wrong. There is no both-sides-ism for that. It’s wrong. Period. Full stop. End of story. If any MAGA admits that, we would have a little bit more respect for their “opinion”. I hate to break it to you, you’re on the wrong side of history on this one.

Look on the bright side OP. Trump will be defeated in November.

1. PLEASE don’t count your chickens before they hatch.🐣

2. I think what OP may be worried about, and frankly so am I, is that Trump may drop dead tomorrow, but his followers will simply be waiting for the next charismatic authoritarian to fall in line behind. It’s a legitimate worry.

OP, you must be white.

As a POC, I have experienced firsthand the hate of his supporters. You’re lucky that you are just now realizing this.

I’m glad your bubble has burst. Now maybe you’ll see we need better candidates than what we’ve gotten. I still contend that Harris will win, but she will likely keep stirring the pot instead of bringing the country together and rebuilding a stronger nation.

A divided house cannot stand.

There’s no reasoning with MAGAS. Have you ever seen Republicans making nice with the opposition? Why do you only hold Democrats to these standards?
