I had an epiphany today: I don’t hate trump - I hate his supporters.

His supporters have always been here, but couldn't be motivated by candidates like McCain or Romney. Trump's superpower is that he has absolutely no shame - when called out on a lie he doubles down, triples down, then blames the media. Maybe somebody like Vance can carry on that legacy in a post-Trump world but it's just as likely that the GOP implodes in the resulting vacuum.

A loudmouth buffoon who will soon be humiliated at the polls again, and then spend what may be the rest of his life in a New York state prison as a 34 count convicted felon facing possibly 14 decades at sentencing, if he doesn’t flee the country first - which I suspect he will. Either way, he’s soon to be gone and won’t be our problem anymore.

But the 50-odd million people who will probably still vote for him this November aren’t going anywhere. And those are the people I really, truly, viscerally despise. Because they gave trump his power. Without these imbeciles, trump would be nothing. He’d literally have the same influence as a crazy screaming homeless man shouting at no one in a city park. That’s what trump would be without the millions of supporters who give him his power. These are the the people I hate. Not trump. trump is just a symptom. His supporters, his sycophants - they are real problem. The disease.

It really made me sad when I came to this realization today, because until now, I assumed that things were going to be awesome after the election and we’d never have to suffer his buffoonery again. But then I realized his supporters aren’t going anywhere. They’re still going to be around regardless of whatever happens to him. And that infuriated me.

I just don’t know how to get past this. I’m just consumed with anger at the realization that probably should’ve occurred to me earlier, but didn’t. I was so consumed with hating trump that I wasn’t able to see who I truly should’ve been hating even more. And now realizing that these people will still be around after he goes away, it just ruins everything.

Very upset tonight. Can barely contain my rage.

In your title you state you don’t hate Trump, but then in your comment you contradict yourself and say of course you hate Trump.

Then you state you hate your fellow American citizens for voting for the candidate of their choice. You admit to being filled with barely containable rage at people who don’t vote for the candidate you choose in a free and fair democratic election.

It sounds like democracy isn’t for you. You can’t function in a representative democracy without becoming hateful and full of rage. You despise people who have the right to choose to vote for a candidate you hate, and expect them to vote for and like the candidate you like. Their choice to vote for someone else makes you unhinged and unable to cope with your own emotions.

op is boiling with rage and hate at her neighbors, acquaintances, coworkers, strangers, etc, who support Trump. Let’s hope she can keep it together and not snap and attack one of them for exercising their right to vote for the candidate of their choice. They don’t deserve to be set upon by a hateful person they don’t even suspect is barely controlling their anger and frustration at them for living their lives.

Why? Why are you voting for him?!

Exercising the right to vote? That is a little ironic coming from trump supporters that were fine with trump trying to overthrow over 80 million votes in the last election.

Because they are ignorant little sh!ts who think the breakdown of democracy is entertaining, or won’t negatively affect THEM, so they don’t care.

Must be very painful indeed to realize that no matter how loudly you scream about it, you simply cannot make others do what you want them to or think the thoughts you insist they should.

It’s funny because no doubt you’re one of the LWNJs calling Trump voters “fascists.” Yet the reality is that you would like nothing more than to control the thoughts and actions of half the country. You absolutely epitomize fascism.

Well said.
It simply enrages OP that she is unable to control others.

OP is “enraged” because a minority of very stupid people are threatening to destroy democracy because a fascist makes them feel special feelings. It’s a totally reasonable thing to be mad about.

+1 anyone who doesn’t vote democrat is a sh!t.

I hope when op snaps and attacks an innocent person and law enforcement does a deep dive on her electronic devices, they see her hateful post stating she can barely contain her rage.

You want to hide behind decorum but it is way too late for that.

Where is the hyperbole? Your candidate tried to overturn the 2020 election with an insurrection, tried to get false electors to give him a fake win in the state of Georgia, has appointed a bunch of hacks to the judiciary and the Supreme Court who have given him “absolute immunity for official acts,” and has made many many statements about his intent to subvert democracy.

The people who recognize that this is incredibly damaging to our democracy have every right to be upset and consider you stupid. Crossing the street without looking both ways is dangerous and stupid. Voting for Trump is dangerous and stupid. The fact that you do not realize how stupid these people are is totally expected.

LOL are we going to pretend that the “F your feelings” people are all about peace and love?

You weirdos are incredibly destructive. And now you are crying because reasonable people think you are the worst.

Sorry it hits a nerve. But you ARE the worst.
