Drop the guilt over teen being lazy?

I don't want my kids to sleep all day in the summer easy. But, not because I think that they need to be busy and productive all summer. I just don't want them to waste their childhood summers sleeping or in front of a screen.

Yet, most of us waste our LIVES doing just that at work.

I read books all day in the summer but only because personal phones hadn't been a thing yet.

Yes, me too. Times have changed. And I think it is much worse for kids on the introverted side of the spectrum.

You think it is normal to sleep past 1pm? Sorry, but that’s excessive. 99% chance of your kid is still asleep at 1 and won’t work up, it’s because they have been up all night on their phone/computer consuming hours of social media/youtube garbage content. Or gaming. If you think this is totally fine at 14, you’re a terrible parent

Terrible parent here. So far my 3 boys have turned out awesome, though the youngest is only 14. Time will tell with him.

It's a little different when you're a kid though.

Yep. They don’t like being with themselves.

My kids are pretty busy over the summer, but I try to plan for two weeks of total laziness in August. It's the perfect amount of time. A d if they sleep late, I assume it's because they need it. Screens are off by 11 in the summer though.
