College and University Discussion
Well they are idiots because if Trump gets in office he’s not going to be more supportive of Palestinians than Biden. |
Yeah he saved all his violence and crimes for his fellow citizens. |
This is all that needs to be said. -Class of ‘97 |
We are now all aware of the situation in Gaza. I bet you are one of those people who wouldn’t know what is going on until it inconveniences you personally. |
| Swat alum here and it pisses me off, too. I mean, making everybody go all the way to Philly? I can't imagine the hassle for all the families coming from out of town. Graduation was in the amphitheater for generations until just a very few years ago and I'm not convinced by arguments that that's not feasible. My sympathies to your graduating DC and the family! |
Are you equally distressed about the actual genocide occurring in Dafur? Or do you need to be personally inconvenienced first? |
Ha fellow Swat 97 grad here, our Facebook page is all over this issue! |
No, but I don't understand how these protests are going to change anything meaningful. I don't agree with the way Israel is doing things, but these encampments are also turning into anti-jew camps. Some people are there for the right reason and some are there for the wrong reason. I would never participate in them because I wouldn't want to hurt the Jews on campus. And I still can't understand how they are helping Palestinians. |

Toss out the campers.
Have the graduation on campus for students and families. |
|
Is your empathy reserved for white people then? |
+1! This is so true. I have a lot more sympathy for Ukrainians -- they certainly did not start the conflict. Unlike the Palestinians... |
Keep defending war criminals. Your logic that mass killing is only wrong when it’s against people who share your ethnicity is shameful. Now that the Palestinians have experienced a genocide, by your logic they have the moral right to go out and commit against another group. Don’t you see how sick that is? |
I know, it sounds super inconvenient and annoying! |
| Sorry OP. Swarthmore graduation in their /walk thru the Rose Garden was a lovely graduation venue when my DS graduated a few years ago. My DH and I discussed this last night imagining parents walking past the encampments. After paying $$$ to attend, there would have been low tolerance for hecklers. The choice to go to downtown Phila is not an improvement. I do wonder who are these people inhabiting the encampments? Swarthmore students are guaranteed housing for 4 years and undergraduates should be done with finals at this point and moved out. |
