Because they don’t want to be around a bunch of fat screeching women.

Maybe they allow cigar smoking there?

If any of you had bothered to read the actual story you would know that this golf club DOES have a women's private dining area!

100% this. As much as you want it to be it’s far from a scandal.

There are still numerous Gentleman's Clubs in London that do not admit female members. And I'm sure there are those that go the other way around. It's OK. They are private clubs.

I could almost care less except for the fact that sooooooooooooooo many people we know belong to that club and willingly pay for these discriminatory practices yet are appalled by discrimination outside of the club.

My husband and I declined an offer to be members there years ago because of the separate dining areas and some other unacceptable attitudes.

It’s mind numbing watching these kinds of things happen and people not having the strength of character to do the right thing

I'm also surprised at some missing names - and yes they knew about it since they're good friends with some of the signatories. Very successful and powerful women - come on, don't let your daughters down.

The public policies that allow golf courses to sit on prime real estate are hard to explain.

They have a Women's Lounge. Just like every other country club. News flash. NONE of them are as nice as the men's grills/restaurants. They're just not. If you don't have functioning eyeballs and don't realize that when. you join I can't help you.

- signed, a WGCC residential neighbor (who would never belong to a country club)

Seriously!! How can we change this?

I don’t understand the people saying “it’s a private club!” because isn’t this just the members of a private club complaining to their own board? Isn’t that just normal private club politics?

No, it isn't. Go read more responsible versions of the story. There is a private ladies' dining room. The issue isspending moremoney to rehaul the men's area than the addition of new chairs to the womens room

Absolutely. The people aghast it's a scandal have never belonged to a country club. Or have a beef with WGCC. I suspect #2.
