Washington Golf & Country Club Scandal

Anonymous
This is juicy. I’d like to see the VA legislature take their state tax exemption away and then the federal.

The Washington Golf and Country Club is engulfed in a fierce controversy as the club (headed by Squire Patton Boggs partner John Burlingame) battles its own members accusing it of gender discrimination for fighting to maintain a “Men’s Grill.”

You clearly don’t belong to a country club. They’re very common. Even in the DC area.

Umm, you do realize there are many of us who belong to clubs with no gender based dining options, correct?

Also, where does a trans member eat in such a situation?

And don’t tell me that WGCC doesn’t have trans members because I know members of that club with trans children.

Worked for Squire as an associate. Old Boys' Club.

Is it a scandal if no one is scandalized?

Angry, exasperated, weary of this bullshit, sure. But there's no scandal.

Their state tax exemption isn’t going away while Glenn Youngkin is governor.

s Youngkin a member of the club?

As America is one election away from becoming an autocracy, the women of this country may want to consider what happened in Iran.

If you’ve stepped foot into this club you would already know that it is a sexist and racist place. This is not surprising at all and I think most members will support it.

I recognize a lot of the names on this letter and applaud them. At the same time I’m thinking about the active members I know who chose not to sign. Very telling.

Have you ever stepped foot in WGCC? Take your wokeness elsewhere.

Strikes me as a very odd business decision, but I'm not sure it rises to the occasion of a scandal.

The main dining room, the beach grill, the golf shack. This isn’t the only dining option there braniac.

I'm not sure why people have problems with all men or all women private spaces. I'm a 40 something gay man and I have absolutely no issues with a men's only grill or bar and vice versa for women only spaces. There's no shortage of options so it can hardly be accused of exclusionary. And it's a private club.

Sometimes I like having a gay only space, ya know. Nothing personal. As long as it's private and elective by choice.
