College "Moms" Service Provider

But we have RA's now for each floor, and an RD for the entire dorm. No need for a housemother. Ironically when there was a housemother, college students were way more independently-minded than they are now.

People love her and pass her name around. You pay her a monthly fee. She cooks/checks in, buys groceries, drives them to target/WF and airport. Also to sports or dr appts.

Tulane, WashU

I sense a trend of the demographic of kid that needs this

Let’s just say the stereotypes are true

Wow. I am that demographic and my freshmen kid got sick and I sent them a care package and moved in with my life. I think this is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Antisemitic much?

DP. Is this actually what was meant??? I have never associated any of those schools with having a significant Jewish population!

But paying someone to “ check in” in your college kid? I mean mine would be beside herself if some random “paid mom” was trying to contact her. I can’t imagine many college students would be cool with that.

+1. Nor should they be!

That’s absolutely what was meant. They both do and are known for it. What do you think was meant?

A lot of talk about overnighting items via Amazon. This is not a thing on most campuses. The mail facilities are overloaded and it often takes kids days/weeks to get their shipped items.

WTF. This is a thing?? Those kids are doomed.

I'm also in that demographic and I'm the one who said earlier in the thread that this sounds like an SNL skit.

Interesting. We recently visited two of these schools and this did not come to mind. But DC decided against both schools after the tour.

Yep, it's an example of the antisemitism that's so prevalent and acceptable on DCUM and elsewhere. The Jew is coddled, rich, and weak, right? (And BTW I am Jewish and none of my family our friends have or would use such a service.)

Yes, that's why I put a slight caveat into my reco. But if that's the case, maybe there are package drop-off/Amazon lockers in college town.

My son's college has an entire building dedicated as an amazon locker hub.
