What season is boys volleyball?

Um, its a whole extra team needing practice and game space when the gym space is maxed out. What's surprising?

How is it maxed out in the fall with just girls volleyball, but not maxed out in the winter with both girls basketball and boys basketball?

Because basketball still has activities in the fall.

There is already a robust NOVA HS boys club volleyball environment, with 49 club teams. Most FCPS HS have at least one club team, and they play in the fall. So they are using gym space somewhere - maybe rec centers?

Guess basketball will have to cut back a bit.

Yeah, but for every other season/sport the in season teams have priority over the out of season teams.

All the spring sports have indoor green days during the winter and basketball gets priority at that point, so it seems like they manage to make it work for every other sport, but *shrug*

you can shrug, but if it comes down to boys basketball or boys volleyball getting gym space, I can guess which team will come out on top at most schools

Our gym space was completely full this fall. The girls JV basketball had to do their green days in the mornings before school. There is nowhere to put boys volleyball unless girls volleyball is willing to give up 1/3rd of their space.

LOL. Tell me you know nothing about how sports work at most FCPS HS.

It would have to be at rec centers or maybe middle school gyms at night b/c they aren't using space at the high schools.

Basketball is the biggest money maker for schools and boosters. Football has really high costs, basketball does not. No one is cutting back anything for their basketball programs and with 6 teams + 2 girls VB teams-they use up all the space in the "off" season.

Maybe the proposal had to include information on where off-site they would be practicing but I doubt it.

Color guard, marching band, girls volleyball, field hockey or boys or girls swim teams. But I believe these should exist even though I don’t knew anyone personally one those teams. Surely you have heard of boys volleyball, even if you don’t know a player? Ok then. Sports can exist at a high school level even when you don’t personally know someone who plays.

Are you....a shut-in?

I'm laughing at the thought of anyone telling our HS basketball coaches that they are giving up practice space for boys volleyball.

My best guess is the girls VB program is going to have to give away some of their gym space/time.

I'm baffled by the girls wrestling team thing. Our HS is 2800 kids and there are zero girls who wrestle. Literally any other activity would have more interest.

How many players are on a volleyball roster? Just curious.
