Girls flag football seems like a much better idea. |
Two boys-no boys we know have ever played volleyball but I guess its a good opportunity to have another no-cut sport? |
There must have been some girls who advocated for wrestling? The school board wouldn’t choose in a vacuum. I am curious about the parity though. Our HS has far more girls sports than boys, and plenty of girls on the well-funded teams (football). I get that may not be the case at most schools though. I’m just curious about the overall funding for boys vs girls sports. |
Same. Huge school and only one gym. Looks like a fall sport which will be really challenging with 6 teams having basketball green days and 2 teams of girls Volleyball already needing gym space. |
Which public FCPS has plenty of girls on the Football team, and more girls sports than boys? |
Chiming in-two boys and none of their friends have ever played volleyball. I'm shocked. What next, pickleball? |
Seems like the money would be better spent on 9th grade soccer teams. |
Our FCPS has a girls wrestling team already. I guess they weren't "official" but they competed and wrestled just like the boys.
And my younger son plays volleyball now (through St James since not a ton of VB options) so we are thrilled! |
+1 |
+1. No gym space for boys volleyball. |
I don't don't think you can name a single FCPS high school with plenty of girls playing football |
It will come at the expense of community rec leagues |
Must be hyper-local with the volleyball. Boys volleyball clubs are going strong in my area and I know several boys who play. |
Our public FCPS high school is 2800 kids and zero girls play football OR wrestle.
Agree that flag football would have been better. |
There's no gym space for more fall indoor sports. Maybe they should make it a spring sport. |
