LOL! Nope. Indian hosts do not provide you with clothes. Gifts of clothes and jewelry is given to close family members and close friends by the host. This is part of the gift exchange. Most people do not wear that gift given by the host to the wedding they are attending. They have their own clothes.

American guests are not family or new ILs. They are also not close family friends who are participating in the gift exchange. It has a cultural meaning.

Most Indians will attend Indian weddings in formal attire - Western or Indian. Western formal suits are always appropriate for guests and hosts in Indian wedding.

If a westerner is dressed appropriately in formal clothing - Western or Indian - no one will be offering them clothes. But if you come without proper attire, the Ambanis are rich enough to provide you with stylists and the best selection of clothing. But, bad taste is bad taste. If the guests are not sophisticated enough to pick what suits them, the stylists are not going to offend these people by telling them that they look weird.

The clothing was beautiful and custom made by top designer and their team. People just racist.

Ambanis are much loved in India because their stocks made the common man rich. Their lavish weddings had added glamour and excitement to the Indian wedding industry. "Wed in India" is something that Modi and Ambanis are propagating. The wealth generated via this wedding spending has indeed percolated downwards. As for the Bollywood connection? Bombay is a hub for commerce as well as the film industry. It is like LA and NYC was one and the same place.

Yes, Indians have always had big weddings. But then the divorce rates are also low. So, it is not as if you waste all the money on a wedding that will end in divorce. Besides, now the wealth in India is growing so they can spend it any way they want. It's not as if the wealth will be spent on alimony and child custody battles.

Why no outcry when BRF spends money (from looting India) to get their horse-faced children married?
