Texas judge grants woman’s request for abortion despite state ban

Surprise, surprise, the Texas Supreme Court confirms what we've known all along.
It has nothing to do with LIFE.
It's all about controlling women's bodies.

I feel terrible for this poor victim. But should she be denied her abortion, or it gets delayed to the point that she loses her fertility or worse, then this case can be taken out of Texas state courts and put into the federal district courts and make their way up to the Supremes. If she loses her fertility or worse, then the case can be made that the Texas law and similar laws are unconstitutional because of the harm that they do to the victims. Texas claims that there are medical exceptions. This is proving that they won't honor those medical exceptions and that the law is a violation of her right to life. I think that should she suffer harm from this law that she can contend that the law is unconstitutional and violates the 14th amendment.

So, while I am hopeful that she gets her abortion, should she suffer tragedy, there may be some good that can come out of this if the law can be deemed unconstitutional.

I hope she doesn’t encounter trouble leaving the state.

This is absolute insanity

Why do the people of Texas stand for this?

Not all them do. But there are enough barbaric people there and barbarians in power to allow it to happen.

At least they’re doing this fast instead of making her wait. Good god this is absolutely sadism from Paxton.

One thing's for sure - this case exposes the lie that anti-abortion laws have exceptions that are clear and understandable and that doctors and hospitals and healthcare workers and pregnant women don't need to fear being prosecuted for making the decision to make use of those exceptions.

The “exceptions” are never clear. Pregnancy is complicated. This is why many advocate for no limits. Not because any woman is deciding to abort a healthy wanted child at 8 months. THAT DOESNT HAPPEN. What happens is complications that no one could imagine.

Leave medical decisions between patient and doctors!

The demographics of the Texas electorate are changing. It's inevitable. About all those currently in power can do is slow down the change through immigration restriction and voter suppression.

She’s not going to leave the state. She’s going to see this through. She and her doctor are not going to blink.

The longer her pregnancy continues the harder it will be. I hope she gets her needed procedure as soon as possible whether it’s in state or out. Her health is the most important thing.

Not to Texas.

That’s why she might need to leave the state.

Her decision. Obviously carrying a pregnancy in Texas comes with serious risks not present in states with more modern and advanced maternal health care.

She has decided to challenge the law, despite the security and health risks. Someone needs to stand up against this bullshit.

2020 would have been blue if not for the cheating of Republicans. Paxton said as much.

This is the death throes of a dying party. But that doesn’t mean people won’t get hurt.
