The AG's petition comes after a Travis County district judge cleared the way for Kate Cox to terminate her pregnancy.

Is this legal? Or just more law breaking from the party of “law & order”?

Where are all the anti-abortion folks?? Why aren’t you defending this? It’s what you want right? It’s all a part of goDs pLaN!?!

This is why these laws are so insane. The state is trying to block this woman from terminating a doomed pregnancy that could prevent her from having future healthy pregnancies.

There is no sane reason for this. None

This is being heard by the TX Supreme Court right now. Mother of God, this is so disgusting. Hey forced-birthers, you're awfully quiet.

That's because politically they know it's not a popular thing to argue. But they're actually pleased with this. This is exactly what they want. They don't care about women's suffering. At all.

And you know what one of the worst things is (besides this poor woman's suffering)? That if something terrible would happen to her as she's waiting, if she died, nearly died, or lost her uterus and can't have another child, the anti-abortionists who support this extremism wouldn't feel all that bad about it. There would be no self-reflection or thinking, gosh, this law is not serving its purpose. They'd say, oh isn't that too bad, thoughts and prayers, and move on.

+1. But it’s even worse than that. They’d blame her. After all, if she was truly without sin, God would have never punished her in this way.

It’s all about the magical, made up fairy tale man, and his made up fairy tale will. Doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that Republicans are soulless, inhuman monsters incapable of humane governance. Nope, it’s all about the fairy tale bearded guy in the sky and what He wants.

At least they’re doing this fast instead of making her wait. Good god this is absolutely sadism from Paxton.

One thing's for sure - this case exposes the lie that anti-abortion laws have exceptions that are clear and understandable and that doctors and hospitals and healthcare workers and pregnant women don't need to fear being prosecuted for making the decision to make use of those exceptions.

And... the Texas Supreme Court aholes pause the lower court, blocking the woman getting the HEALTHCARE she needs.

Yeah I spoke too soon when I said they were moving fast. From the Center for Reproductive Rights:

Late tonight, the Texas Supreme Court temporarily halted a lower court ruling that would have allowed Kate Cox, our plaintiff with severe pregnancy complications, to have an abortion to protect her health and future fertility.

The Court said they will weigh in on the matter and stayed the lower court ruling until they have more time to consider the case.

“While we still hope that the Court ultimately rejects the state’s request and does so quickly, in this case we fear that justice delayed will be justice denied,” said Molly Duane, senior staff attorney at the Center for Reproductive Rights. “We are talking about urgent medical care. Kate is already 20 weeks pregnant. This is why people should not need to beg for healthcare in a court of law.”

Yesterday, a state court ruled in Kate's favor, but within hours, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton asked the Texas Supreme Court to block the order and stop Kate from having an abortion. Paxton also issued a letter threatening to prosecute any doctor who gave Kate an abortion, despite the court order.

Last week, Kate received confirmation that her fetus has a lethal condition—Trisomy 18—and has no chance of survival. Due to Kate’s medical history, her OB-GYNs warned her that continuing to carry the pregnancy could jeopardize her health and future fertility.

Despite her doctors' warnings, Kate has been unable to get an abortion in Texas due to the state’s extreme abortion bans.

No one should have to beg a court for permission to receive the medical care their doctors recommend.

If you agree, get off the sidelines and get involved in the fight for reproductive rights today.”

Someone needs to set up a go fund me for this patient to send her to a state that isn’t barbaric so she can get the health care she needs now. I would contribute.
