No one needs wifi at work - in the office. No one. |
Good ! Open up positions for real workers with real educations willing to get real results - not play board games with their kids and walk the dog all day |
The cold, flu, covid excuse is one of the all time worst. Colds have been around for centuries. Get over yourself - snowflake. |
This. I really only like to work at home with my spouse once or twice a week. I like having an office, and coworkers. I just don’t like the toll of my commute on my family life and health, the pay, the management, or the office environment my employer provides. If Amazon can make all of those things balance out for their employees, sign me up. |
NP and I guess it just depends on what you do. At my place wifi is used during meetings for multiple presenters to share their screens. The alternative is for everyone to e-mail their information to one person but then you're sitting there pulling up multiple presentations rather than just seamlessly switching from one person to another. Our meeting rooms are not set up for multiple hard-wired connections. We also have some people that sit at workstations that have to use wifi. Admittedly, this one is just a poor building design or cost-cutting measure where they did not include hard-wired internet at those locations. |
People that have meetings typically need WiFi. No one uses legal pads anymore bud. |
So you want to be around people, as long as it's not your husband. |
DP but I’m around my husband all the time. I just don’t want to WORK with him around all the time. He’s loud. It can be a little jarring for him to see me in “executive mode” all the time. And when work is killing me, I prefer to be out of the house so no one has to deal with me that isn’t paid to. |
| The pay at Amazon is so much higher than most other places I think employees can suck it up and go to the office. |
This is the thing that people seem to forget. One’s employer is not a welfare agency. They are not funding your lifestyle to be nice. No, they expect you to work. They want something in return for their compensation, and they are right to demand it. If you think it’s so easy to find another job that pays as well, go find it. But, until that time, report to work and do your job. No one’s paying you to be on a permanent vacay. |
You seem to forget that it goes both ways. Companies need people to be willing, and even excited (god forbid) to do the work under conditions that work for them. Don’t act like this isn’t a negotiation. Both sides have leverage. |
| The corporate manager in here depresses me. Do better man. Employees are not machines. You can get so much more out of people by being better than you’re displaying here. |
Yikes. These things are not mutually exclusive. |
Yes let's hire the aging Genx and boomers who have outdated skills of Fortran |
Yeah, this is hilarious. My days in the office I bring my dog and generally eff around. I get my real work done at home. |
