People like you have shut down women for ages. You chill out. It is inappropriate and very annoying. I would complain to management. Men need to learn how to act and we need to stop tolerating their weirdo behavior. |
F off dumbbell. Men do this all the time. It can be a form of intimidation. Guys need to learn how to act because most of us aren't going to tolerate the typical male bs. |
+100 So much this. |
Chezus. You've never been to my Lifetime gym. |
LOL, ok there champ! You should smile more. |
Ugh. He sounds like the kind of guy who insists women should smile more. |
I dont find this inappropriate at all. I think you may think too highly of yourself. |
In my gym the trainers will talk to the general public if they are using incorrect form.
They don't do this for minor situations but when bad form is being used. Trainers who correct are both women and men. |
I have experienced this too. I find it helpful. |
I can see why you might be perturbed. Unsolicited advice from a man in a gym can be annoying. But he is an employee so that is different. And you did not see him talking to your daughter, so maybe he did speak to other males there. Idk seems like a nothing burger to me. But you were in work out mode and did not want anyone to talk to you. |
This. OP wants to make a thing out of nothing. I'm surprised she didn't try to flame a Twitter pitchfork army to ruin the employee's life. |
Yup. I f’ing hate mansplainers. |

I don't knwo how some DCUMers walk out the door in the morning. They take offense at anything and everything. |
I've had people try to talk to me while lifting, and at first I got irritated and assumed it was because I was a woman. Now that I've been lifting for many years, I've realized that a lot of men who lift are looking for social interaction along with a workout. And women, in general, are friendly, so they think you'll be friendly in a gym. I used to just brush them off and ignore them. Now, I talk to a couple of them, just small talk. And I feel like if something happened to me in the gym, they would help me. So I guess what I'm saying is that they might be creeps, or we might be jaded. Either is possible. |
