Style choices that age women in their 40s

Trying too hard to look polished backfires.

They’re a trendy haircut for all ages now. But tbh this is a classic cut that eveyone has had at some point. I have one now and the last time I had one was in my early 30s.

Leather. Leather pants or skirts over the age of 35 is a huge mistake.

Hands down skinny jeans!
Skinny jeans it’s like wearing a huge sign on that says “I am old “

Skinny jeans plus a longer patterned blouse ("tunic") is definitely a major sign that someone is approaching or over 50. Layer that blouse over a camisole and then you're really telling on yourself.

I think blonde makes most people look older than they actually are!

So the advice is follow trends but don’t follow trends?

+100. I will never do this.

But I also think that dying hair brown is also aging when most of your hair is grey. And blond just looks like all your doing is trying to not be grey. I also think gray roots with any color hair is aging. The problem is dyed hair can look washed out/faded and dry.

This is why you go to a professional to dye your hair and you go frequently.

orrrr you spend that $3000-5000/ year on nicer clothes or hobbies or travel …

Um, that Botox is actually a give away too! So many faces that don't move, have bunny lines on nose, eyebrows that always look surprised and skin that looks like plastic give away that someone is old(er).

It's hard to explain how, but when I tried on a shirt with a padded pushup bra and a regular light bra, the extra boob size definitely made me look older. It's subtle but there was a difference. So throw out the miracle bras or, if you're bustier, go for a smoothing sports bra style.

Large breasts aren't a style choice. Unless you are talking about implants. It's like saying, being under 5'6" ages you. Or blue eyes age you.

NP and I’m taking this personally! I’m 52, 5’5” 130 lbs. and a bra size of 33E. I’ve always had large breasts on a small frame, but post menopause I think my 10 pound weight gain is because my breasts went up 2 bands and 2 cup sizes.

Get professionally fitted bras. I have for years. No tunic tops - makes me look like I’m wearing a choir robe. My bra fitting store convinced me to give up on
a minimizer and opt for well fitting, supportive bras instead.

Correctly fitting bras and great posture help!

PP here and ITA! I am a similar size. The right bra size and a good bra is key.

Saying big breasts age you is just another slam on body type.

+2 is not a style choice unless you're putting in giant jug implants

+1 All of you women who swear by box dye should know that your hair looks flat and matte- and well, like a home dye job. Don’t fool yourself, it is very noticeable.

^^this! It requires soooo much maintenance to stay on top of the touch ups and the hair cuts. I'd rather look as close to naturally beautiful as possible.

Women need to stop trying to body shame each other. I don't talk about your over use of drugs to stay skinny and parallel your eating disorders.

I wear capris, so take this with a grain of salt, but I also like skorts and have several from Title 9.

Same. I wear capris. I see other moms wearing longer pants this summer. No way. And no one wants to see me in shorts.

I will never, ever understand the women who do not dress to the season - tall boots and puffer coats when it is 50 degrees? Long pants and long sleeves when it is 75 degrees? Are you deranged?
