Madison would be the exception to that tendency, due to the university.

How do you feel about endless grey skies, even in summer?

You don't know much about Wisconsin!

They are about 30 years out of date with this. I am GenX and many of my peers were like this, but the younger generations here (except maybe in small towns) are not getting married any earlier than anyone else.

Really? I used to hang with a very artistic working class crowd and was shocked-just like totally shocked—at how many of those tattooed 20 somethings with crazy colored hair had kids and wedding rings and were freaking homeowners! coming from DC it was just a surprise that these people could afford to buy on a creative working class salary.

Well, that’s the beauty of life here. “Working class” people can buy homes, not just the wealthy. Shocking I know.

Yes. This is what a dual-teacher couple can buy in Milwaukee:

Well, don't plan your move quite yet.

Look at the date on that article. It's from 2010- 13 years ago. Milwaukee housing certainly is still lower cost than say, DC or other east coast cities, but it is risen quite a bit since the pandemic and *definitely* since 2010.

Relax. It has risen relative to what it was, which was pretty low. But it is still a good value and you get a lot of quality and size for your money. No 1.5 million three bedroom sh!tshacks like in DC.

Yes, that is what I said

If you like arctic weather from November into April-May, flat scenery with some lakes and rivers here and there, a lake that is relatively lifeless and too cold to swim in accept one month out of the year, horrible drivers, a lack of variety in the way of restaurants and fast food places with an over abundance of the most basic chains, and things to do that mostly involve hunting, snowmobiling and bar hopping, then you’ll love Wississippi.

That’s an understatement. Anyone that lives in Wisconsin their whole life is missing out on life big time.

I lived in Wisconsin for 39 of my 42 years. What was I missing out on?

That's a result of extreme partisan gerrymandering that kept an 1849 law in place, not so much public opinion. Both the gerrymandering and abortion issues should hopefully be remedied as a result of the new State Supreme Court makeup (liberal challenger defeated conservative challenger by 11+ points in April, it's now 4-3 Lib).

Oh, predictably here is the Midwest hater who gets triggered and jealous anytime anyone speaks highly of the Midwest. Once again, you are clueless and simply spouting tired old stereotypes. Wisconsin has some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. And those “some lakes and rivers” blow any of the natural scenery in the DC area out of the water, as does the food scene, parks, people and basically everything else that is a factor in quality of life. And your statement that all there is to do is hunt and snowmobile is beyond ridiculous. There is are so many things to do year round that it is hard to decide. Anyway, you are clearly so deliriously happy in your wonderful, perfect life in the nirvana that is Northern Virginia, then why are you so driven to throw shade on another area of the country that many people enjoy?

I would consider Madison or Milwaukee, but no where else. Wisconsin has a pretty unique culture that can be hard to break into. Madison and Milwaukee still retain good elements of the WI culture, but have enough newcomers and transiency that it's not so hard for transplants to break in.

Exactly what body of water in DC is, by contrast to Lake Michigan, full of life? The bloated ugly Potomac? BTW, there are lakes and rivers nearly everywhere in WI, not “here and there.” Try to at least know something before spew your BS.

No matter the reason, it is now the law of the land. I'd think twice before moving to any red state.

I’m going to call BS that this person has ever been in Wisconsin, except maybe to visit some hated in-laws in some tiny town. What a bunch of drivel.

It is not a red state. It went for Biden by a large margin. The state government is the result of extreme gerrymandering that will change once the maps are redrawn soon. Also, the courts are expected to invalidate the abortion law, and the legislature can pass a new one, but Evers will veto it.
