That's a result of extreme partisan gerrymandering that kept an 1849 law in place, not so much public opinion. Both the gerrymandering and abortion issues should hopefully be remedied as a result of the new State Supreme Court makeup (liberal challenger defeated conservative challenger by 11+ points in April, it's now 4-3 Lib).

No matter the reason, it is now the law of the land. I'd think twice before moving to any red state.

It is not a red state. It went for Biden by a large margin. The state government is the result of extreme gerrymandering that will change once the maps are redrawn soon. Also, the courts are expected to invalidate the abortion law, and the legislature can pass a new one, but Evers will veto it.

The problem isn’t just the gerrymandering, but the fact that the Dems are highly concentrated in Milwaukee and Dane Co (Madison). Gerrymandering exaggerates it, but geographically the state legislature will maintain a right lean.

Wisconsin is basically inferior to Minnesota in every way except sports teams.

Well, Wisconsin has a far superior flagship university. Just ask the people in Minnesota.

Please stop trying to make NOVA cool by sh!tting on another part of the country.

The weather in NOVA alone makes wisconsh!t look like the hellhole it's always been. NOVA could benefit from less flyover refugees moving in [b] en masse [i] every year .

Well, you’ll definitely not ever stop talking about it if you do. We had family that lived there briefly and it’s all we ever hear about.

Isn't it cold in winter?

The entire upper Midwest is very cold in the winter--Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois all have much more intense winters than the mid-Atlantic. If you're used to DC winters, this will be a shock.

Nailed it

I lived in Illinois for decades and I don't disagree. It will get to -10ºF every winter and often times -20ºF. On the bright side, everyone knows how to drive in ice and snow and they do a ten times better job of clearing the roads because people are still expected to show up for work no matter the weather.

I would not, but that’s me.
How is it beautiful? Isn’t it mostly flat and landlocked?
Beautiful is not a word I would use to describe America outside of the costs and the Rockies (which are also the only areas in America I could live in, ever).

Your knowledge of geography is laughable. Wisconsin is next to giant Lake Michigan and it has hundreds of other lakes, so it is hardly “landlocked.” Also, it is not flat. There is actually some great skiing. And if you think that the only beautiful parts of this country are the “costs” and the Rockies, then you need to get off of your phone and actually travel.

Wisconsin doesn't have hundreds of other lakes, it has 15,000 lakes. Very few posters have any idea where Wisconsin is located, or any idea what it is like to live there. OP, may want to visit the state and find a different forum and venue for your question.

I stand corrected! I just know that it has a lot of lakes and is not “landlocked.” It is absolutely ridiculous that someone would call a state in the Great Lakes “landlocked.”

Bored people are boring people.

Are you suggesting that someplace like NYC is the same as BFE Wisconsin? With a straight face?

I’m suggesting that the latter is better.
