That's Minnesota. Wisconsin had more Germans. Lots of beer and brats.

In addition to basically every other type of food imaginable.

Like every place every where.

This is just not true.

I’m mid 30s and married w kids. We used to live in Milwaukee area a few years ago. It is an affordable, fun city with lots of culture and sports and things to do and there are down to earth, friendly people, a lot of beautiful parks and lakes. People do tend to get married younger there than in DC but there are still plenty of 30s single people as well if you’re looking to date. If you don’t mind the winter, it’s a good place to live. One thing I didn’t like about living there as a 30-something is that a lot of people leave the city practically every weekend to go to their cabin “up north” or to a lake house or something. I love nature but we didn’t own a cabin and had no desire to have that cabin lifestyle every weekend.

You must have known some either very well off or very outdoorsy people. Most people do not do this, especially every weekend. Many people do go “Up North” in the summer, though.

That’s Minnesota, not Wisconsin.

Summerfest and Irishfest are the highlights; but I disagree a bit with a PP--even in Milwaukee you may be made to feel like an outsider bec you're not from there. I did meet some wonderful people tho.

The same could be said about a lot of places, but more than ever, Milwaukee has people from all over now. Of course it is a place that people stay in or move back to because it is a great place to raise a family and build a life. But it is still a big city. The rest of the state may have more people who grew up there. Anyway, people are pretty friendly and welcoming all over.

Nope, that’s Minneapolis

Anonymous wrote:People marry really young in midwest: marriage, kids, and a mortgage by 27 is common. People do start getting divorced in their 30s though so there might be a lot of eligible divorced.

Madison would be the exception to that tendency, due to the university.

How do you feel about endless grey skies, even in summer?

Summers are perfect — very blue sky, not too hot.

It’s great if you’re not a POC.

Of course this tired old trope is trotted out every time someone talks favorably about the Midwest.

And how would you know that?

I'm not, so no issue for me.

Or “Whitefolks Bay” as it’s called by those in the know.

You don't know much about Wisconsin!

They are about 30 years out of date with this. I am GenX and many of my peers were like this, but the younger generations here (except maybe in small towns) are not getting married any earlier than anyone else.

Also, it is not gray skies all summer at all!
