I wonder if walls has actually started calling folks on waitlist, or if a few kids have simply dropped off the waitlist

By logging into your myschooldc account you can see your child’s number on the WL. That will show you the movement from the initial WL number assigned. If you actually get a spot the school will call you.

Pull down “login” from menu on the top right hand corner.

As students pull out of Walls, they go to the students on the waitlist by number.

Numbers were not randomly assigned. They are assigned based on interview/GPA.

LOL, it has been excessively proven this year that all of the GPA "scores" in the Walls rubric should be the same because of how high the cutoff was.

Perhaps you think the interview score is "non-random." I disagree.

Agreed! Our interview was less than 5 min. Part of those 5 min was the student telling us about himself.

To date, Walls has only offered three spots off the waitlist (48 fewer than at this point last year):

They accepted 20 more kids than last year (so 28 less offers) but this is still a BIG discrepancy. Any thoughts?

We turned down a spot at Walls for next year.

I let my kid make the decision. I’m having regrets.

The “by June” numbers (ie, match day plus waitlist offers by June) have been much swingier, from year to year, than the final totals.

Nothing to do but wait and see.

Can you call the school and maybe they will put you on the top of the waitlist?

Thoughts:
1. GDS accepted less kids - some of these students who would typically wind up there from DCPS needed to go elsewhere. This will not account for everything - but it starts the cascading impact.
2. Jackson Reed was over enrolled for the current 9th grade class by over 100 students. People who had that as an option heard the stories and decided to stick with Walls if they got in
