Corner bakery kids meal is a 1/2 a sandwich, a cup of soup, chips a huge cookie and a drink for 5.00
Bethesda bagels- you can get any bagel as a mini bagel for about 1/2 price. The mini bagels are still huge. Most sandwiches come with cheese and cream cheese counts a cheese. Get cream cheese (flavored) on the side and an extra mini bagel for 2 meals Panera- get a pick 2 if you are ordering for 2 people and split it. The pick 2 saves 3.00 and if you need an extra bag of chips or piece of bread it’s .49 cents |
DP. Not my problem as a customer. I don't need enormous portions so it's either I "take up a table" and have a smaller meal or don't come at all.. |
Don’t come at all. |
+1 just stay home. You don't deserve nice restaurants |
NP. If you ban children altogether, I'll put your restaurant at the top of my list. |
You realize it's better to have a full restaurant than an empty one and if you are telling people to stay home, you have an issue if you have no customers. Prices have gone way up. So, if we stop going out to eat, you lose your business. |
Then do not come at all. No restaurant wants you there, ordering a meal that they lose money on, and taking up a table. |
NP. I hear you. When I was in college, I would buy a big KFC bucket or use a deal on BOGO large pizzas to get extra food, then portion out and put in my freezer. It stretched my money, but it wasn't in any way trying to game the system. It wasn't cheap, just frugal. |
Telling cheap adults trying to order a kids meal to stay home isn’t going to hurt his business one bit. |
| Most of these aren’t hacks. They are just recognizing that portion sizes are out of control. No one needs unlimited breadsticks, and most kid sizes are way too big for kids. Restaurants should just shrink everything down. |
| Not sure this counts as a hack but for takeout Chipotle, I get extra tomato salsa and either use then or a day or two later to make the easiest guac ever - just add ripe avocado and no dicing needed! |
I agree with this. Even kids' meals are often enormous. I ordered a single kid's meal for my kids to share (2 and 4) because I knew they wouldn't make a dent in it. The proprietor who was taking our order actually criticized me for it! He said "How am I supposed to stay in business when you're splitting meals and not ordering enough food." I never finish anything at a restaurant and always eat it the next day, but if someone doesn't care to eat leftovers they shouldn't have to throw out their food. Sell half-portions. |
| Discount gift cards, military discount, stack discount with app discounts go on special promo days and dine at restaurants that don't skimp on food. My meals average $5 to 10 at fast and dine in restaurants. |
Size is already down. |
Not a kid's meal, but just an appetizer. Usually a kid's meal needs to ordered with the purchase of an adult meal anyway. An appetizer is plenty of food for me at my age. |
