These hacks, especially those used on mom and pop local restaurateurs are so tacky. Restaurants have razor thin profit margins. . The kids meals are meant to be ordered with an adult meal. Not for cheap adults. If you can't afford to eat out just stay home.
So a restaurant would rather have no customer than one who just orders a small meal or an appetizer? When many restaurants are struggling? I'm now in my 50s and don't have the appetite I used to. Should older people only eat at home now too? What an odd business model.
Restaurant owner here. Yes you should just stay home if you're trying to hack a kids meal into an adult's meal. Kids meals are loss leaders that at offset by the accompanying adult meal. Plus you are taking up a table. I don't understand why you are dragging old people into your scheme. We love our customers of all ages!
You realize it's better to have a full restaurant than an empty one and if you are telling people to stay home, you have an issue if you have no customers. Prices have gone way up. So, if we stop going out to eat, you lose your business.
