Another Democrat switches parties to GOP

Anonymous

A Peach State lawmaker who angered her Democratic colleagues in the Georgia state House of Representatives over her support for a recent school choice bill is expected to announce that she is officially switching parties.

Mesha Mainor – a Democrat who has represented District 56 in the Georgia state House since January 2021 – will announce shortly before noon Tuesday that she will switch her party registration to Republican.

"When I decided to stand up on behalf of disadvantaged children in support of school choice, my Democrat colleagues didn’t stand by me," Mainor explained of her decision in a statement to Fox News Digital. "They crucified me. When I decided to stand up in support of safe communities and refused to support efforts to defund the police, they didn’t back me. They abandoned me."

"For far too long, the Democrat Party has gotten away with using and abusing the black community," she added. "For decades, the Democrat Party has received the support of more than 90% of the black community. And what do we have to show for it? I represent a solidly blue district in the city of Atlanta. This isn’t a political decision for me. It’s a moral one."

Check her finances...

This.

We have already seen too many cases of party switches where the finances were at best, questionable.

Good riddance.

Your post gives a clue as to why this may be happening.
When you demonize the opponent with false smears and hateful rhetoric and all the while embrace absolutely nutty positions on issues (abortion on demand with no restrictions, allowing biological males to compete against women, restricting speech, defunding the police, etc.), expect reasonable people to run away from you. Now, you might say that ALL Democrats don't embrace the positions listed - but how many Democrats have spoken out against them?

Meh. You seem to be implying that Republicans don't make the same sort of sweeping pronouncements about Democrats. Are you suggesting that? If you are not, where is your outrage at Republicans pushing people into the Democratic party?

But I suspect you are a troll because no one who is moderately reasonable suggests that the Democratic party supports "abortion on demand with no restrictions." That is a falsehood propogated by Republican partisans like yourself. Because before Roe was overturned by activist judges, it protected the right to abortions to the point of viability. Look it up if you don't believe me.

And it is your party's extreme, nutty positions (forcing 10 year olds to give birth to their rapists' babies, going insane over a small number of trans kids across the US, restricting academic freedom in universities and banning books in public schools and libraries) that is driving many to vote for Democrats. Now you might say that ALL Republicans don't embrace the positions listed, - but how many Republicans have spoken out against them?

Yeah, check the fine print. Dems don't scorch for school choice. Black dems are the most conservative members of the dem party. Lots of black parents support school choice.

Check under the mattress.

She will lose in the next election. She represents Midtown.

I agree with her on some of those issues and I've never wanted to leave the D party. I know the Rs are racist and don't want to be a part of that (I'm black). Those are minor issues that she is squabbling about. She's been on Fox a ton. She likes the attention she's getting.

Public can’t compete with school choice. The teachers are horrible in public.

Yes, before the southern strategy and the major shift in the southern, racist block from the Dems to the GOP.

Abe Lincoln would be a democrat today.

Actually, every president but Trump would be a democrat today, alas.

Not so much. The party switchers understand that the Republican Party has achieved managed democracy. You can say people are furious about abortion and shootings and whatever, but it doesn’t matter if they don’t get to vote. Republican judges, money, and just strategic and tactical brilliance have outflanked the Dems at every turn.

When one side literally has the guns, the ammunition and the money, it doesn’t matter how many people they have on their side. They just need enough foot soldiers to use those guns. And Donald Trump has given us those foot soldiers.

The smart play is to become a Republican, and get on record now.

You seem awfully excited about fascism.

NP. He/she sure does. It's so disturbing. The entire GOP are Neagan I guess.

And here we have the now classic example of the GOP accusing the Dems of what *they* are doing.

Every accusation is a confession. over and over and over.

The GOP started this hyperpartisan, demonize-your-opponent (with lies) nonsense.

I am curious what would be the next derogatory that Democrats will come up with. Deplorable, white nationalist. Now they have to come up with something that would be denigrating, but includes POC. Lets wait.

Cool story. The private schools that school choice lets public school kids go to are just as bad. No school voucher program actually opens good privates or allows transfers to good school districts, they just allow for profit privates to get a cut of education dollars.

Tudors, homeschool, pods or on line schools are safer and infinitely more focused with infinitely less wasted time on gender confusion assemblys.

Republicans are buying off weak democrats.
Or running con artists as democrats.
Believe it.
