Should Chap Peterson be worried?

Eileen Filler-Corn comes out for Salim: https://bluevirginia.us/2023/05/former-va-speaker-eileen-filler-corn-endorses-saddam-salim-in-senate-district-37-primary. I guess this a endorsement largely influenced by Chap's positions on gun-related legislation. I think Chap may be in trouble. I suppose we'll see.

Filler-Corn? Isn't she the one the Democrats tossed aside after she handed the House of Delegates to the Republicans?

Chap has started running cheesy ads that group him withh Kincaid and Nuttall as the common sense group or something. I am in favor of the other two but not interested in Chap’s pro-gun stance.

In general, I think I would prefer Chap, but gun legislation is pretty high on my list of priorities - universal background checks, no expansion of open carry (would like to see it eliminated), continued strict or more regulation of concealed carry, and support for an assault weapons ban.

I'd rather Chap care more about gun legislation but all told he is still a liberal Democrat, and one with a bit of clout in Richmond as opposed to a total lightweight who would just be ignored (like his primary opponent).

Sure let's blame the woman for losing instead of... you know... Terry McAuliffe.

Filler-Corn was voted out of the House leadership position by her own party because she sat on money that might have made a difference in the handful of tight House races that flipped control to Republicans. She's the reason why we are in this mess with Youngkin. Her endorsement has more to do with her wanting to stay relevant than supporting Chap's opponent.

I think he is. He has been out canvasing in City of Fairfax, his hometown, that should be a lock. Prior to this election year, I've only ever seen the man in the July 4th parade. Now, all of a sudden he's out knocking on doors.

He is continuously out at community events, knocks on doors all the time. You may not have seen him, but he is a regular out in the community. Just look at his Facebook page.

How is she responsible for youngkin being the governor and not Terry McAuliffe who ignored half the state in his campaign? Terry also sat on money, but you’re probably not going to blame him because he’s the white man.

Also, she had to keep money left in the bank account because the consensus at the time was that there would have to be a new election for the house in 2022 due to the Paul Goldman redistricting lawsuit. Everyone at the time believed they would have to run again in 2022, and they knew they weren’t going to get as much national attention and money, so of course they needed to keep money on hand. Eileen is the first woman and first Jewish speaker of the house and accomplished more in two years than any other speaker. And she travelled the state and raised millions for Dems in 2021, just as she is doing right now. Also… speaker isn’t supposed to be in charge of the House Dems bank account… that’s supposed to be the House Caucus Chair Rip Sullivan, but I don’t hear you blaming him… again you only blame the women.

Ok, Keyboard Karen. Maybe you should have written for The Washington Post about her ousting.

Lots of Chap signs out in my Falls Church neighborhood. Multiple mailers from him, but only one from Saddam. Certainly seeing the incumbent money factor.

I live in Falls Church too and although I do see a considerable amount of Chap signs, I see probably near 2x as many Saddam signs.

Don Scott - the Democratic minority leader in the House of Delegates who orchestrated (or at least benefited from) Ms. Filler-Corn's removal from that post - has now endorsed Chap.
