Oh, we know. We reject the fearmongering about schools, genders, and crime.

I just don't know how Chep lost. I was going to vote for him, but I had to vote for some lady, he was a good senator, he couldn't get 1400 more mothers that were happy that they didn't have to deal with the kids all day ?

NoVa essentially just elected a bunch of rookies like Salim and second-string incompetents who accomplished nothing on the SB, so don’t whine in a year or two when others on the state legislature take advantage of their inexperience.

I, too, am angry about all those voters who foolishly voted for the candidates running against the candidates I supported!

(Actually I'm not, I live in Maryland, and every four years, I wonder why on earth Virginia has its elections for state legislature in off-off years.)

to have less voters, and schools ended on Friday a lot of families went to the beach this week, and didn't vote early...

I wish the election were held 2 weeks ago and not this week. Summer Vacation started on Friday so a lot of people were out of town. He was a great guy, he did make some mistakes here and there with his votes, but I loved his personality, but he wasn't even on my ballot I had to vote for someone else.

Anecdotal, but my Fairfax City precinct had a pretty big contingent of confirmed Rs show up to vote for Chap. So there was 'motivation' by both fringes, with centrists as usual not bothering to participate. I voted for Salim but I'm disappointed Descano eked through. It's fine to have progressive goals but not at the expense of being good at your job (see also: FCPS school board).

Considering our participation levels for such things as presidential elections, you think that would actually make any difference? Primaries have always been for the base.

There were so many opportunities to vote early. Moving election day wouldn’t do much, if anything, to increase turnout.

One must kow tow to the progressive gods... elst thou shalt not be allowed to be a Democrat...

I don't think he wanted or care to win this race.

Or, more realistically, just don't align with the GOP/Youngkin most of the time.

That affiliation alone would have doomed his campaign.

Chap ran an awful campaign and ignored Falls Church. That's how he lost. Pretty simple.
