DeSantis will first have to "handle" Trump before he can "handle" Biden. Don't be so sure that Trump won't prevail.

Yeah thanks. Voted for trump twice. He is done. He is a net negative now. He needs to go away and most of us feel that way.

Since you seem so sure that most Republicans agree with you about Trump, can you explain why the Republican establishment as a whole--not just a handful of people--won't disavow Trump?

It isn’t necessary to have a war with trump. He still motivates a lot of people.

I get that Trump motivates people so they don't want to cut him loose, but Trump also has the ability to inflict serious damage on DeSantis and whomever else he tussles with during the primaries. And if he doesn't prevail in the primaries, he will spend his time attacking the GOP establishment and their anointed candidate. He will keep communicating with and riling up his base (the folks who are in his cult of personality) and will draw votes away from the GOP candidate. He will not fall in line and support the GOP candidate who will go up against Biden. So as much as you'd like to dismiss Trump, he is not going away. He will burn it all down if he has to.

I don’t dismiss him. Your analysis of him is spot on. As I said, he has become a net negative. He is a take no prisoners kind of guy and he will absolutely lash out at anyone and everyone that challenges him whether it’s good for the Republican Party or the country or not. And republicans know it! He is definitely the old guy who yells outrageous stuff all the time and so he is going to end up ignored. Yes some people still want him but they want to win more than they want him. He wants him to be president more than he wants a republican to be president. He feels like he got a raw deal and frankly I think he did with Russia collusion hoax and COVID happening. But that’s the way it went and now he is a has been. He doesn’t know it but he is. But like Barack, and Bill Clinton, he fires people up. So he is going to be a helpful motivating tool and then once DeSantis declares in May, he will just rail agains DeSantis and I suspect DeSantis will do what he does which is to obliquely reference trump but not fire back until the debates. And then I think DeSantis will just rise above as the most poised, intelligent, forward looking, hopeful, candidate.

You are ignoring the media. How do they make their money out of this situation?

Don’t care. No one trusts the media anymore. Media has lost its power.

Doubt it. If the media has bothered to cover scamtos they could have made money and probably tanked his con game.

Russia collusion wasn't and isn't a hoax.
COVID happened. Trump dismantled the pandemic playbook assembled by W and Obama. So anything that happened because of COvID was because ignored precedent and thought he could do it better. he failed. Miseraby, and WE ALL ARE PAYING FOR IT.

Let's stop with the rose colored glasses.

And fox will be forced to cover it all to make the money! ( If they are still in business)

Pro tip. My family is R (Fox) and my husbands is L (msnbc and cnn). MSNBC and CNN feature trump WAY more than Fox. Way way more. Fox has definitely moved on.

Ok. Fox knows how to cash in. If desantis is their golden ticket than I guess that is that. All fox cares about is the $$$$$ obviously. If they trump or desantis or someone else gets them the viewers, that is the way they will go.

I am not sure where you think the media fits into my voting decisions. I consume news from a variety of sources and make my decisions. If Fox or CNN or MSNBC make money with their shows, good for them. Literally has no impact on my vote.

I don't think your particular voting decision process is that relevant to a national election.

Um, what we knew about Russian Collusion now, pretty much shows it was a hoax. As for COVID, I think that no matter who was in the white house when it hit would have been voted out. Trump did a lot of things he didn’t really want to do but Fauci and others wanted him to do. Nothing mattered. It was a pandemic and ruined a lot things and people were mad and wanted change. I think that had Hillary been president, she would have suffered the same fate. I know you will disagree but that is my opinion. He was in the chair when COVID hit and that sucks. Once in a hundred years pandemic hits while you are president.. . Kind of derailed his plans.

Thanks genius. You just keep putting out some vague argument about the media needing to make money off trump or something incoherent. I am saying I don’t care. I am telling you that there will be lots of chaos and trump will be a jerk and create drama but DeSantis will be the candidate.

Well with such a well argued and supported statement as that, I guess that settles it IMO the media influences elections. I do not think Santos would have conned his way into that seat if the media has covered the con.

11:00 I have provided you with very long explanations for why I think DeSantis shill rise above Trump. You have repeatedly responded “but the media” with no real explanation about how that is going to drive the vote. And now you criticize my more blunt response. Why don’t you explain your view about how the media will make so much money with one or other candidate and how you have concluded that is going to impact my vote. Explain your argument!!!

Actually, no. It is embarrassing for Democrats who think pointing this out is in someway a negative for DeSantis.
He has never claimed to be a pilot. Never.
And, the fact that this was one of his responsibilities is not surprising.

And, pointing something like this out just highlights the fact that DeSantis has served in the military unlike others in high office.

DP. I appreciate your thoughts and explanations. I think you are overlooking the most important characteristic of a successful politician than Trump has and that DeSantis does not - charisma.

We'll soon see and then we'll all know who is right or wrong.

He did a "Top Gov" ad that was a spoof on Top Gun. He has never claimed to be anything but a Navy JAG.

Let's talk DeSantis

1. Florida Constitution he must change it to run for President
2. He also must change it if he wants to stay governor.
3. He will change it for both
4. He will run for President which he will lose but he will win in Florida because Florida voters have no chance to elect anyone else.
6. He has bought the police in Florida
7. He is working with Mike Flynn to take over the State.
8. Vaccines will no longer be mandated so good luck with that shit. Bill already written.
9. DeSantis will be King of Florida til he dies and Florida will be uninhabitable for people.
10. His plan for Florida is to change the taxes so the state income tax rate will be 20% if you do not understand why this will be you are dumb as rocks he is not hiding anything.

11. He has a list of bills a mile long not one is good that will be passed.

12. 6 week abortion ban is insane
13. He is a full blown NAZI "reform" coming out of his mouth if proof is positive.
14. If you are a minority, female, or reform Jew get out of Florida now because after 2024 that will not be possible.
15. His plan for camps is already written down. Yes it is.
