3 kids in zoned public, 5 in catholic, 2 in jewish, 1 in independent fancy, 1 in public but magnet
MoCo |
| NWDC block in Murch zone: 100% public, including the now-empty nesters' kids, except one Catholic family that chose a Catholic high school. |
For only elementary or for middle and high school as well? |
| Sumner, Bethesda. My block is 75% private, but overall I think the neighborhood is probably 75% public. |
Seemed clear. All public all the way, except for one for high school. |
|
Alexandria- our section about 15% for elementary school (most attend Waynewood). Increased to maybe 35% in HS. Pretty variable from section to section.
This is probably a slight increase (to various privates) from 10, even 5 years ago. |
Same in Baltimore (Lauraville) and every child on my street goes to private. |
Interesting. Which neighborhood? We are in a similar neighborhood and the % is closer to 20-25%, up some from pre-covid, but still not 50%. |
| None that I’m aware of. In our last neighborhood the private school fams didn’t mix with us 🙄 (Beverly Hill, Alexandria) |
Does it tend to be higher in Alexandria City or Fairfax County? |
| It was significant and then after Covid got more so. Even people left high school for 10th grade private schools |
What neighborhood? |
| Westover, Arlington. I have elementary age kids and we know 2-3 families at Congressional and 4-5 families split between St Agnes, St Ann, and St Thomas. One more family we know is contemplating private middle school for their autistic child. We know 1 family each at Montessori, ATS and Key - the countywide option schools. |
That’s unfortunate. We are in BevHills, with kids in public and private (mixed household) and all the kids in the surrounding streets, from public and a variety of privates, play together regularly. |
| 90+% in Georgetown (DC) |
