When we were moving to the DC area, our company relocation consultant told us that the default for families that move to Maryland was private, and the default for families that move to Virginia was public. At the time MCPS was lagging behind significantly to FCPS, except for Whitman. Low and behold, we moved to Virginia and our kids attend private.
