| No idea, if I was to guess maybe 10-20% |
In 1960, unlike MCPS, FCPS was still segregated honey. |
| Moved to MOCO for the privates. What a relief!! |
| In my immediate neighborhood of Woodley Park, I would say no more than 10% attend private schools for K-8th (due to Oyster-Adams). Private high school attendance is probably around 25-50%. |
| Close in Bethesda. Used to be probably 70%. Now probaby 50 after the pandemic moved a lot of families. Of those starting now (entering K or moving in) it's back up substantially |
| Wesley Heights - 100%. SFS, GDS, STA. |
Huh. I know tons of kids there who attend Mann. |
Should have been more clear, on my block in Wesley Heights, it’s 100% private. |
| Close-in/walkable N. Arlington. There really has been a significant uptick in the past 5 years. It used to be about 1/8th of the hood, now its close to 50%. Some wait until high school. I'm not sure if it's that the neighborhood has turned into a $2.5-3 million price tag for a new home or if it's because of the result of Covid and dissatisfaction with the results of that. Probably a combo of both. What I keep hearing from people that have kids college/post-college with another kid still in the APS system is what a downhill turn it has been. |
| Something over 75% public in my niegborhood: Rosemary Hills in Silver Spring. Pretty much everyone moved here so they can be in the Bethesda Chevy Chase cluster. |
It’s gone from racist to mediocre. Never ahead of MCPS. |
| Kensington/Silver Spring: about 80% public |
| 10% in Reston |
Same with MCPS, every few years it takes another step function step down the toilet. Even the church schools are running waitlists. |
| 40% in East Mclean/Arlington close to downtown Mclean. |
