“The monarch would be conveyed from Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire to Edinburgh on a special train, where it is understood the Queen would initially rest in state at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

Her coffin would then be carried to St Giles’ Cathedral on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, where people would be able to pay their respects.”

aside tourist tip: this is open to the public (unless the royal family is in residence) and a very cool and easy visit when you're in Edinburgh.

They said they would lower the flags within 10 minutes of passing, so that should be the clear signal.

They're going to drag this poor woman's body all over creation.

Uh, she approved the plans. These plans have been sitting on a shelf collecting dust for decades. It’s all part of the job.

Um, yes it is. The world will go on, with or without her.

+1

Appropriately too, she would likely want to continue serving her duty to country even in passing.

+1 it must be imminent or already have happened. I am also so sad over this. She has been such a mainstay through my entire life that I cannot imagine a world without her.

The last few years have been rough, and her longtime husband died last year. It’s not too surprising.

VERY rough

So many elderly people decline/pass soon after their spouse does. I figured she’d pass within 6 months of Prince Philip. That was April 2021. I’m very surprised she’s made it this long.

I always felt like she was hanging on for the Jubilee. That was her last big duty to the country. Since then, she had nothing to keep her going. She knew it is her time. She said goodbye. People got to tell her goodbye and thank her for everything.

Wouldn't that be due at least in part to bad parenting? Look at how she publicly treated Diana and Harry. She's not all sunshine and rainbows. She definitely has a dark side.

her kids were largely raised by nannies, governesses, and boarding schools. I’ll never understand people who send their kids to boarding school—who is raising these kids??

That would mean skipping Charles. I know no one really likes him, but you don’t just break protocol like that.

Oh for the love. Stop it. I went to boarding school for high school and loved it.

I’m surprised she lasted this long after Philip passed.

Plenty of us went to boarding school and had a wonderful time. My friends from that time are still like sisters. You won’t understand because you’ve never experienced it.
