Secret to classy Pony tail?

Anonymous
Low is key.

I wear my hair in a braid a lot. Kind of a Blake Lively situation, who I have been told I look like, but I don't see it.

I read that the pony/bun is the new look

But no too think. I have very thick, super slippery, straight hair. I love the look of a pony tail, but it's not for me. I have to put in so much product and bobby pins to make it work and even then pieces slide out as I go though the day. My hair doesn't want to be contained.

Lucky!

So you're saying you don't go to a gym or ever see active people biking, running, hiking or doing anything outside?

Yes, as I said, I would wear one doing laundry or cleaning around the house. Or running or hiking. OP said a pony tail makes her look like she's going to work out. She wanted a "classy" pony tail to wear to work. Sorry, no.

Most women who never have their hair up are hiding something (usually some unfortunate features).

Agreed.

Stupidest comment of all time.

I don't think that comment is true, but people with great bone structure can get away with less hair around their face, for sure. I know some women who don't have great facial features but have nice hair, and they definitely (understandably) lean into that, growing their hair out and poofing it around their face. If they got a pixie, they wouldn't look very good.

Yeah, you don't think that comment is true, but you just explained why it is true

I mean, I don't know that they're consciously hiding something. I think they just emphasize their hair as that is a good feature.

Not everyone's hair is a good feature and yet 99% of women in the USA wear their hair down as if it's some sort of an asset.

I wear one to work sometimes. I have very straight, thick medium long hair. Smoothing flyaways and having it back pretty tight is key. And I always do either a high ponytail or a low one - I think in the middle doesn't look as good somehow. I also sometime add a twist in front or a braid into the pony tail.

Weekend/work out pony tail is totally different. That is any hair tie around and done without a mirror and taken in and out over the day. Not professional, but comfortable!

I try but I get a headache.

I totally appreciate the compliment, but I've spent most of my life trying to get my hair to take a style and it just resists me. So now I just get a good hari cut and call it a day.
Going through peri and my Dr. was totally shocked when I was actually happy that my hair was thinning a little. I can actually do something with it now

+100000

Some women look better with their hair up. And some hair is really difficult to manage. If you are blessed with healthy manageable hair you have no idea what some of us go through just to look kempt.

Hair is too much work. All the time, money, chemicals, products, labor, and stress is exhausting.

99 percent of people's faces are worse than their hair and putting one's hair up accentuates the face.
Women aren't wearing their hair down to show it off; they're wearing it that way to not draw attention to their faces.

Of course, but that works for Jennifer Aniston (good hair) and it does not work for Maryl Streep (bad hair). That's exactly why Maryl Streep's hair is styled away from her face.

Wearing hair down doesn't cover one's face. Such an idiotic idea.

I have a long face and look much worse with my hair down. I used to do a pony tail but I mostly twist it up and clip it.

If your hair is too thin, you use a phony pony.
