So you're saying you don't go to a gym or ever see active people biking, running, hiking or doing anything outside?

Yes, as I said, I would wear one doing laundry or cleaning around the house. Or running or hiking. OP said a pony tail makes her look like she's going to work out. She wanted a "classy" pony tail to wear to work. Sorry, no.

Most women who never have their hair up are hiding something (usually some unfortunate features).

Agreed.

Stupidest comment of all time.

I don't think that comment is true, but people with great bone structure can get away with less hair around their face, for sure. I know some women who don't have great facial features but have nice hair, and they definitely (understandably) lean into that, growing their hair out and poofing it around their face. If they got a pixie, they wouldn't look very good.

Yeah, you don't think that comment is true, but you just explained why it is true

The key is (1) not too high, and (2) very smooth and sleek. I wear them all the time, and I use a leave-in product to reduce frizz and add shine.

oh people, there are also ponytail extensions, buns, etc. Also, if you don't have the hairline you need powder one in.
It's all smoke and mirrors anyway.

I mean, I don't know that they're consciously hiding something. I think they just emphasize their hair as that is a good feature.

What leave in do you recommend? This time of year, my hair goes bonkers.

I think Kim Wexler's ponytail is awesome. Who dared diss it?

It can depend on your hair, but I use a Garnier leave-in Argan oil on damp hair in the shower, and use Kerastase when blow-drying my hair, or John Frieda's Frizz-Ease on dry hair.

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

I miss ponytails. My grey comes in so fast now. I don’t want to put my hair up right after I get it colored. And then I have to leave it down as that hides the roots much better. But I used to really enjoy a nice smooth ponytail.

I love a low pony or messy bun. I have fine hair, so I always leave a few pieces down to frame my face. I get compliments all the time. Works best on hair that is 2 days from washing.

The key is to wrap hair around the base of the pony tail, so you can't see the elastic. Even slim, silk pony holders look casual. I wear a pony tail with my hair straight or curly. I'd keep it quite low, and perhaps a touch off centre. Very high can work if you work in a creative profession and do it just the right way. Smack in the middle, just no.

Pour yourself a stiff drink, sweetie.
Many of us wear pony tails.
You might want to step outside of your cave.

But no too think. I have very thick, super slippery, straight hair. I love the look of a pony tail, but it's not for me. I have to put in so much product and bobby pins to make it work and even then pieces slide out as I go though the day. My hair doesn't want to be contained.
