Secret to classy Pony tail?

I make one and it looks like I'm going to work out. I see other woman and they can wear a ponytail to work etc. What is the secret?

I haven't seen a pony tail in 20 years. They are dated and look stupid on adults. Even on most kids. I would wear one to do the laundry and clean the house. That's it.

You mean you wish for a very smooth head of hair? That's only given to some hair types, OP. We have part-Asian straight hair, and it's true I can get a neat pony tail out of my hair and my daughter's. My curly-headed friend never wears a pony tail!

I use ouai matte pomade to smooth my flyaways and it really helps it looks more polished. Haters can hate all they want but my typical hair rotation is blowout, dry shampoo to also wear straight day 2, then bun, and 4th day ponytail because the hair gets a nice curl/bounce from the bun. Pomade on days 3 and 4 only.

A professional ponytail is definitely possible. Think Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul. I think the key is mid-level (not on the top of the head, not too low), smooth with some volume at the crown, and not too tight, as that is very unforgiving on most people.

Yes, as I said, I would wear one doing laundry or cleaning around the house. Or running or hiking. OP said a pony tail makes her look like she's going to work out. She wanted a "classy" pony tail to wear to work. Sorry, no.
