Vienna Foodies

I have to believe the FB page has done some good over the years (raising money for particular causes, etc). but to me, if you delete negative reviews, it defeats the purpose of a site like that. Plus, yes, LR has always weirded me out.

For what it's worth, the buyer of the house we bought was represented by her real estate firm and they were awful to work with. Would get basic things wrong, always arrived late, etc. Soured my view of her from the start

People have complained that they got food poisoning or had really awful experiences at some restaurants and she deletes all the comments. I always thought it was to prevent any drama and have that stuff go on Yelp, but now I think it’s harmful that she deletes the comments. And now seeing accusations that she’s getting PAID, it’s even grosser

I’ll give a new restaurant time to get into a groove but Lydia talked about this place like both the vibe and food were outstanding. Her OneNeighborhood Foundation gets tons of attention but as someone who works with nonprofits, it seems to have very little transparency or checks and balances regarding how money is spent. I’m not saying that Lydia is knowingly doing anything improper but one person giving away donated money at their sole discretion with little reporting isn’t in the spirit of a responsible nonprofit.

We’ve always suspected that her nonprofit is actually all profit for her and her only.

And yea Carnegie sucks. It’s extremely overhyped by VF and the food is shit.

+1000

Carnegie is actually downright bad. It's huge piles of mediocre food. The limp, greasy hash browns are especially bad. My eggs were way overcooked. Yuck. And the service was dreadful.

And yes, we went in response to all of those hype-hype-hype posts on Vienna Foodies about how amazing it is.

It was so weird to me, that FB group, because I moved to Vienna from FCC this spring, and the Falls Church foodies page is normal -- and that is what I expected. Nope. Vienna Foodies seems to be just weird, aggressive advertising. That whole #doyoubelieve?!? I DO!!!! stuff is just weird.

What is the do you believe thing?

There is a man who posts these super-positive posts about various restaurant dishes. Its fine but he hashtags them #Doyoubelieve I Do!!!! and that part I really don't understand. Also he doesn't always say what restaurant he's talking about. He recently posted a great looking photo of some breakfast toast. But doesn't say the restaurant he went to in the post to get that dish. So that isn't especially helpful. Everywhere from Taco Bell to whatever new place in town. You'd think he'd get tired of posting but he does it every few days.

Yes. I much prefer Curry Mantra, but the gas station Indian food is surprisingly good.

Yea he seems …. Different. I don’t know how to say it nicely. I don’t get the hashtag thing it seems to be his weird catch phrase. How do people afford to eat at restaurants all the time too?

Now the admin of Vienna foodies is asking for donations for a dirtbike for an illegal immigrant. I honestly have to say the audacity is shocking. This is getting beyond weird.

His profile indicates he lives in South American somewhere.

Huh? They work closely with One Neighborhood Foundation which does things like fundraising and giving Thanksgiving baskets to the community. I agree the page can be weird and there’s some Insta mommies on there but raising money to get a kid (you can’t assume immigration status and so what if a kid is undocumented…they can’t get gifts?) a bike isn’t a bad thing.

They are basically one and the same, she’s in almost every photo from the foundation website.

One Foundation is the Vienna Foodies admin’s non profit.

She is constantly begging in Vienna Foodies for money for illegal immigrants and random people but never discloses the amounts donated.

They are basically one and the same, she’s in almost every photo from the foundation website.

It’s about time. It’s beyond obnoxious and everyone suspects she’s not honest

Is anyone else bored of how it’s always only the same few restaurants posted in Vienna Foodies? Tired of always seeing The Virginian, Bear Branch, and Carnegie. It’s very obvious the admin of the group is getting paid to promote them constantly since it’s like the only places allowed to be posted about.
