Vienna Foodies

All the restaurants Lydia glows about are really mediocre at best, over-priced, and things we've tried once and agreed there's no need to go back. I really don't know how or why she got to be the spokesperson for Vienna, but she recently announced on the FB page that she's the newest cast member of RHOPotomac. We'll see.

Ok so it’s not just me. I was hesitant to revive this thread but also like what’s up with this FB group? I mean I can see she’s done good but all the posing, the same Real House of Vienna-type ladies posting their pics. Blah.

Was this announcement on April Fool’s?

Yeah it doesn’t seem like her vibe and persona at all. Probably a joke.

I went to a new restaurant in Vienna that Lydia hyped up beyond belief and every meal at our table (5 of us) was just ok. I’ll give a new restaurant time to get into a groove but Lydia talked about this place like both the vibe and food were outstanding. Her OneNeighborhood Foundation gets tons of attention but as someone who works with nonprofits, it seems to have very little transparency or checks and balances regarding how money is spent. I’m not saying that Lydia is knowingly doing anything improper but one person giving away donated money at their sole discretion with little reporting isn’t in the spirit of a responsible nonprofit.

I went to the site and looked up sushi, and went to one of the places recommended yesterday for lunch. It was very very good--Sushi Yama. I wouldn't know where to go otherwise since I'm in Arlington.

Sushi Yama is good. I don’t think the Vienna foodies thing is very critical but the saving grace is that a lot of the restaurants in Vienna are pretty good - like not necessarily life changing amazing but relatively good. Sweet Ginger is also good for sushi.

Yama is great. It’s been in Vienna way before the foodies. I think it’s some of the more recent openings you have to take with a grain of salt.

Yes. Vienna has a surprisingly number of decent restaurants for its size/being in NOVA.

Sushi Yoshi is also decent

We’ve always suspected that her nonprofit is actually all profit for her and her only.

And yea Carnegie sucks. It’s extremely overhyped by VF and the food is shit.

Carnegie is actually downright bad. It's huge piles of mediocre food. The limp, greasy hash browns are especially bad. My eggs were way overcooked. Yuck. And the service was dreadful.

And yes, we went in response to all of those hype-hype-hype posts on Vienna Foodies about how amazing it is.

It was so weird to me, that FB group, because I moved to Vienna from FCC this spring, and the Falls Church foodies page is normal -- and that is what I expected. Nope. Vienna Foodies seems to be just weird, aggressive advertising. That whole #doyoubelieve?!? I DO!!!! stuff is just weird.

The do you believe thing isn’t the bothersome part of it. Go check out another website for a thread on the real issues

Omg, did the moderator of the Vienna Foodies page really pose in front of the Northern Virginia Magazine 50 Most Influential Leaders backdrop and make it seem like she was in the magazine? That’s crazy. How embarrassing for her.
