How long until we get results from MD primary?

I would love for him to run too only because I find it funny to see him get humiliated.

Down to a 100 vote margin

Refresh the page. Blair is up by 400 now. Still tiny, but at least (for me) it's the right direction.

500 now.

Early Vote was strongly Blair. Election Day vote was marginally Blair. The mail in ballots might skew towards Elrich because he’s more popular with older voters who are more likely to vote by mail. In any case it’s going to be close and it would not have been except for Riemer.

Maybe it's because I'm in my 50s, but what do you mean with older voters? Like Leisureworld voters? Or my age?

Elrich has proven to be very popular with retirees who are the most reliable voters and most likely to vote by mail.

My retiree parents switched from I to D so they could vote by mail for Blair.

+1 exactly me, 52 yrs old.

^explains why retirees like Elrich -- they don't care about schools or economic growth in the county.

Or ADUs or apartments within sight (let alone their neighborhood, just visible) of their home that they bought 40 years ago

It's maddening. I'm sure they all spew "boot straps" left and right, too.

At Bethesda Elementary School on Tuesday, Sergio Kapfer, 72, saw Elrich’s approach to development as the right one for the county.

“I’m not pro-development,” he said.

“Definitely not pro-development,” added his wife, Daphna Krim, 70.

The couple has lived in Bethesda since the 1980s, before high-rise apartment and office buildings took over some portions of the neighborhood.

“It used to be a really quiet, lovely residential area,” Krim said. “Now, it’s just really built up. Too many people. Too much traffic.”

I voted for Blair because when I emailed Elrich's office about my concerns over kids needing to be in school, they dismissed my concerns and replied in a flippant manner, making assumptions about me. It showed how Elrich's office only cared about certain groups, and not all of their constituents.

I registered D first time in my life to vote for Blair because Elrich was such a covid clown. I will never forget or forgive him trying to close my kids' schools in Fall 2020.

Me too, I voted against Elrich because I hated how he handled covid. The rest of the state was moving on and Elrich was holding us back at every step. He seemed to enjoy the power trip. And I will never forgive the county for canceling the OUTDOOR event of Fourth of July last year, in a county with the highest vaccination rate in the country.

Your post is blatantly ageist, FYI. But it's always okay to hate on older people.

As much as I hate to say this, it’s going to be Elric. The elderly lived him because of the tough Corona response and the elderly vote by mail. Once the mail in ballots are counted, he will take the lead.

Here let me get those straws for you.

Which way did mail in sway last time?

Well, they know how many votes Erlich needs to take a lead that won’t be questioned, so there’s that.

It stayed exactly the same. In 2018, Elrich was ahead in early voting, then on election day, and mail ins sealed it. Those margins were always razor thin, though.

I'll hate on people who want to gatekeep their neighborhoods based on some ideal from 40 years ago, regardless of age.

Not to doubt either of you, but to me at least, criticism like this don’t mean very much without some sort of verifiable data to support them. I didn’t vote for Blair for similar reasons. I couldn’t find any genuine evidence of community focused efforts and accomplishments on his part. Once he decided to be a politician, what did he do between elections that would suggest that he’ll be a good one? I share the concerns about politicians who only care about certain groups, rather than all of their constituents. I’d like to be proven wrong though, with Blair.

? What do you want? A copy of the email? I still have it, btw. I pay a sh1t ton in taxes. The least that office could do for me is be respectful of my opinions, right? It starts from the top.

A copy of the relevant passages from the email would be great. Thanks.

And I agree that the office staff should treat you respectfully. They should treat everyone respectfully.
I’ll add that as constituents, we should treat them respectfully as well.

Oh, my email to them was very respectful, acknowleding the hardships of covid for many (I grew up low income, and I shudder when I think if covid had hit when I was in ES), but they didn't even acknowledge my concerns. They assumed I was a rich person who didn't understand the struggles of the poor. I also stated how proud I was of this county for the high vaxx rate and attempt to adhere to masking prior to the vaxx, but that evidence had been mounting that 1. covid isn't a great risk to children 2. but the extended virtual school did hurt children.

No, I don't feel comfortable sharing the email on here.

I am your age and have kids at MCPS as well. I voted for Blair because Elrich closed down schools so his teacher's union cronies wouldn't have to work. It was disgusting and many of us will never forgive him for that.

I'm a PP who voted for Blair due to Elrich's response.. I don't think a lot of teachers wanted to be virtual, but the teacher's union, much like Elrich, only listened to one side of the aisle.

I don't think so.

Now voting by mail has become so convenient that lots of people do it. Not just the seniors

Counting mail votes began at 10 am.

I voted for Elrich. I appreciate his stance with COVID. I get that privileged people, especially once they realized that the elderly and POC were the most likely to die from COVID, politicized what should have been purely a public health issue — and continue to do so, often for very selfish reasons.
I’m glad that Elrich made careful decisions, relying on the ever-changing recommendations from health-focused experts.
