| I am 45 and have kids in MCPS. I voted for Elrich because he was willing to be cautious about COVID despite receiving death threats. I wanted to send the signal that I appreciated his responsibility on the COVID front. |
| I wish Riemer would run for Congress |
I voted for Blair because when I emailed Elrich's office about my concerns over kids needing to be in school, they dismissed my concerns and replied in a flippant manner, making assumptions about me. It showed how Elrich's office only cared about certain groups, and not all of their constituents. |
Same. In fact, no response would have been better. But it was such a rude and dismissive response when I brought up school closure |
I registered D first time in my life to vote for Blair because Elrich was such a covid clown. I will never forget or forgive him trying to close my kids' schools in Fall 2020. |
| Anonymous posters talk about a politician as “flippant” and “dismissive” — but don’t bother to include receipts. Not to doubt either of you, but to me at least, criticism like this don’t mean very much without some sort of verifiable data to support them. I didn’t vote for Blair for similar reasons. I couldn’t find any genuine evidence of community focused efforts and accomplishments on his part. Once he decided to be a politician, what did he do between elections that would suggest that he’ll be a good one? I share the concerns about politicians who only care about certain groups, rather than all of their constituents. I’d like to be proven wrong though, with Blair. |
Me too, I voted against Elrich because I hated how he handled covid. The rest of the state was moving on and Elrich was holding us back at every step. He seemed to enjoy the power trip. And I will never forgive the county for canceling the OUTDOOR event of Fourth of July last year, in a county with the highest vaccination rate in the country. |
? What do you want? A copy of the email? I still have it, btw. I pay a sh1t ton in taxes. The least that office could do for me is be respectful of my opinions, right? It starts from the top. |
I think the school closures were horrible, and my impression is that the County has been totally dismissive and tone deaf with regards to addressing needs other than the prevention of COVID. There are a lot of services that are STILL virtual, and a lot of county employees that serve the public that are working from home a lot and not answering their phones. While I'd rather this response to COVID than COVID denial or anti-vaxxers, I think there is a lot to criticize. So with that context in mind, would you feel comfortable sharing an example of the flippant response? I don't doubt that it happened - I'm just actually curious and think they should be held accountable, because now everyone is supposedly dedicated to keeping schools open and determined to make sure people forget that they worked so hard to keep schools closed. |
| Elrich is the Apple ballot guy. He was a teacher, the Union owns him. Evidence? Covid closure length - among longest in the country despite highest vaccination rates. Oh and all the new companies and jobs go to NoVa. Voted Blair |
Different poster, who works in the county. They are very dismissive and if you disagree with them on those types of basic issues, they just assume you are Trumpian vax denier. Or a racist pearl clutcher. There is no attempt to see someone else's perspective. |
You post this like it’s a conspiracy when Elrich will not dispute that he’s fully aligned with Geno Renne and public sector unions in the county. |
A copy of the relevant passages from the email would be great. Thanks. And I agree that the office staff should treat you respectfully. They should treat everyone respectfully. I’ll add that as constituents, we should treat them respectfully as well. |
I am your age and have kids at MCPS as well. I voted for Blair because Elrich closed down schools so his teacher's union cronies wouldn't have to work. It was disgusting and many of us will never forgive him for that. |
