I just don’t have the stamina for houseguests anymore

The problem is that during the pandemic my husband's hoarding has increased, and he uses Covid as an excuse to refuse to tidy up his items spilling out into our main floor areas and have people over.

So unless I want WWIII in the house, I can't have people over.
Same. *sigh*

After not having had overnight guests since January 2020, I truly hope never to have any again. I never loved it and actively hated some of them staying, but now I just don’t want it at all.

We don’t even have a guest space anymore as with two adults working from home for the last 2.5 years we had to convert it to an office space. Having any overnight guests would mean dismantling the office space and then the added bonus of where would we work given the office would be full of guests and the person who normally works in the dining room would also be put out since our dining room opens to both the living room and the family room.

I understand, OP. We still invite people sometimes and say yes when people invite themselves, but I have scaled way back with how we host because I just don’t have the energy anymore. When we invite people, we put in a lot of effort, but when people invite themselves I do not go into Hostess with the Mostess full-out mode anymore.

We purposely chose a house that is a tight fit for us to have an excuse to not have guests stay more than a few hours.
