Thanks, I did they are sending another one.... Just sick of the dishonest people around here. It's exhausting. This has happened to me twice and I brought the people their package and I don't get the same back.

Do you have a listserv? (If not, then I suggest you create one for your neighborhood or building). Then please share the picture that Amazon sent you on the listserv and say that some neighbor has mistakenly picked up the misdelivered amazon package. Also, if you have RING or NEST CAM - footage, share it. That way, others are aware who the thief is.

Problem solved.

People on my listserv admit to opening packages and gifting the items if they aren’t able to find the addressee

Most of the non-returners do it because they know Amazon will simply redeliver a new package.

When this happened to me, I just contacted Amazon and told them that was not my door. I was in an apartment when it happened, so unless I went to every building and every floor looking for that specific mat, it wasn't as easy as matching it to a door or house color.

That stinks you have crappy neighbors, though. The audacity to deny it even after showing proof of it on their step is BDE if I ever seen it.

If someone came to the door and asked Dh, he would not know. He would not be “stealing” anything. He just would be totally clueless.

Why didn't you give those items to the people who ordered them? I've only had stuff misdelivered to my current house and 99% of the packages were for the next door neighbor. One item was for a woman who lived within easy walking distance. I would contact amazon if the address was in another neighborhood. I see people all the time trying to find their packages or locate the owner of a package on sm. Most people seem honest about it.

Why not just be home when they come like normal people.

I would be annoyed if someone else received my package 📦 - yet tried to act as if they did not.

But we cannot help that we live amongst dishonest people who do not have an ounce of integrity.

Best just to let it go & get your re-delivery from Amazon.

Karma will get them for sure.

Great idea! OP have you tried just never leaving the house in case a delivery person comes? Like "normal people".

Best answer yet!!! Why don’t you just quit your kid and become a hermit so you can be home for all your deliveries?

I took the package to 110 Main street. not even a thank you from them.

Never again.

it was a case of wine, BTW. If you're too stupid to put the correct address on it, then i'm keeping it next time.

I deliver misplaced packages from time to time. I leave it at the correct house. I do not have a conversation about it. Sounds like you walked a few houses down. The address was a typo. It happens. I would not even have rung the bell. It just a courtesy. Vyou are not a hero.

No one knew "the Smiths." I looked for 2 days. Seriously.

I'm not a hero, but I'm not going to go out of my way to find something.

Also, if you're ordering something that's valuable, double check the address. FedEx delivered it to the right address. FedEx didn't GAF that "The Smiths" are at a different house.

Call the company and they will contact the buyers for the correct address and/or have them come get it. Should take 10 minutes. 2 days? were you going house to house?

Anonymous wrote:I ordered a towel that was delivered to the wrong house. Our address was 850 and they delivered it to 805. I saw the picture and walked over there about an hour after it was delivered. The person who answered the door said they already used it, told their kid to go get it from the bathroom, and then tried to hand me a wet used towel. It was weird.

Like the person got the package that wasn’t for them, opened it immediately and thought, “wow! An unexpected towel! I think I’ll take a midday shower.”

That is hilarious!!! Did you take the dirty wet towel back?! They had no shame handing it back to you? Some people!

i think it's nice they offered to give the towel back. my family buys a lot of stuff on amazon so i wouldn't question a box with something i personally hadn't ordered. i mean i wouldn't even look at the label if it's on my doorstep.

That is stupid because we all know that mail and packages can be delivered to the wrong person. Do you keep other people's US mail when incorrectly delivered to you, as well? I guess if you're a thief then you are also n opportunist and there might be $5 in a birthday card. You are disgusting

What? i'm saying the people probably made an innocent mistake--they just assumed it was their package, opened it and gone on with their day. When the OP showed up, they did the right thing and handed the towel back, albeit slightly used. Frankly I think it's weird to show up to someone's house and accuse them of stealing your package when Amazon will replace it for free because it's their screw-up.

The whole concept of porch pirates is problematic; it's just giant corporations doing the easiest thing for them (unattended deliveries) to maximise their profits.

What an oblivious loony tune you are.

You are not a garbage person. That’s worth something.

Wouldn't you have to wait at the neighbor's house?
Anonymous
And people wonder why "strivers" and "social climbers" pay a premium to be "house poor". Sorry not sorry we don't want to live around low class trash and transient renters who won't hesitate to steal from neighbors. This is NOT normal and I don't care if it's replaced. This is NOT happening in Chevy Chase or Kent.

I’ve definitely taken in and opened packages that weren’t for me. When I open them and think “wtf is this?” I look at the address, put the thing back in the box and take it to the neighbor who paid for it. Often w a note apologizing for opening it without looking.

My neighbors do this for me too. Especially in Arlington when you have 23rd St and 23rd Rd with the same damn house numbers.

The Smiths filled out the form with an address that exists, yet it is not where they reside.

FedEx doesn't come back. They delivered it to the correct address.
