This happened on Friday night, and Georgetown’s graduation was on Saturday. How do you know it was Georgetown (and not George Mason- who did have graduation on Friday)?!

To begin with, the Georgetown Senior Class Committee tweeted a statement of regret about the actions of “a small number” of their students.

But also, this is an annual Georgetown tradition. The senior class watches the sunrise while trashing the Memorial and then graduates. Media outlets just picked it up this year because of the Centennial this weekend.

GMU is in Fairfax. It’s not near the Lincoln Memorial

It doesn’t get much attention of you trash a park in Harrionsburg, Happy Valley, Gainesville, etc. The playground here is the nation’s Capitol, not some town that’s all college and nothing else.

It’s also one of this country’s most important national monuments. One the weekend we’re celebrating its Centennial. Don’t do this in Yosemite either. This should not be hard. Don’t rub feces on the Capitol walls, don’t trash the Lincoln Memorial, don’t draw graffiti on Mt. Rushmore. Dont pee on the Vietnam Wall. Do y’all really need to be told these things?
