The Palace Papers

LOL at all the spiteful women in here grasping for straws trying to come up with a credible reason why we should all join in the hate pile-on of a woman who dared to be... ambitious? But who am I kidding. The worst sin anyone can ever commit in the eyes of DCUM is to be a "striver". Makes sense. Burn her at the stake!

She sees through Meghan exactly how I see her.

I just read this whole excerpt and I don’t get it. What are we criticizing her for? She was ambitious at work? She liked SoHo house? She tried to do UN stuff? She wanted to meet Prince Harry? I just don’t see a villain. She seems like an ideal Duchess.

She is a vain status seeking social climber. She has her eye on global fame and was maneuvering towards that her whole life.

Not exactly the profile you want of someone who married into the monarchy of another country. It speaks to her true motivations. Fame and self aggrandizement.

You can make that characterization about every basically anyone who has ever chosen a life in the public sphere. Not sure what makes Meghan any different. She comes off as goal-oriented and hard-working?

Their words were that "It wasn't done." I find this hard to believe. She wasn't a 19 year old Diana, she was a 30 something independent woman with money of her own. She never said that she went to Harry for help either. This doesn't make sense to me.

It’s almost like people on the midst of a mental health crisis don’t always make rational decisions….

Literally every person who marries into this family is a social climber. Kate’s mom is a coal miner’s daughter. You think she just accidentally married up like 30 social classes? Prince Philip was a broke, stateless “royal.” Why in a sea of garbage people is Meghan the one singled out?

The excerpts I’ve seen so far make Brown seem really unaware of the obvious racism encountered by Markle. Brown seems almost dismissive of it, and as a result comes across as out of touch and unaware.

+1

Every thing Meghan does is pure evil, manipulation cooked up with her best friend the devil. Every instance of racism is a one off or the Sussexes being too sensitive and blowing stuff out of proportion.

I’ll allow the question.

This thread is amazing as it shines a bright light on the baseless hate against Meghan. Everything——everything—-that’s being tossed around as an excuse to hate her can be attributed to many others in the royal sphere.

So, again, why is she singled out?

She's singled out for racial issues, but even beyond that, I think if she were white and arrived on the scene ready to bust her tail (as she has in other areas of her life) she would really show up most of the other working royals, primarily William and Kate. It would lead to way too many questions about how she could support so many charities and show up everywhere, all the time, and highlight they do the absolute bare minimum possible. She could rock the boat and they don't want too many questions about why they hate working. Honestly, think she would have thrived in that role if there had been a willingness to work out a path for her, but there were too many other big egos at play.

What's interesting is that if you actually listen to the Oprah interview, it was Oprah who first brought up the race angle, not Meghan. In fact, Meghan was quick to suggest that it was probably a number of different factors (misogyny, anti-Americanism) that contributed to the animus against her. And yet everyone and their mother has attributed to Meghan and Harry an almost manic race-baiting aggressiveness, when in fact they've been extremely evenhanded in how they talk about the racism they've faced.

Tina Brown is really, really not the right person to talk about racism in the UK. It’s a bit astonishing she thinks she can.

Nail on the head. They were fools to let William chase her and Harry away.

Oprah asked them what they wanted from the interview beforehand. You are naive if you think they didn’t tell her anything.

Woweeee Meghan’s PR is in overdrive!

Stupid question here but do the markles get advance viewing of the book, for legal reasons? Do you think they’ve found a way to read excerpts? Also, how long has it been known this book was being written? Maybe that’s why Harry is waiting to release his book, to refute any of her claims.

I hope to hear from the personal assistants, nannies and housekeepers. There’s a household staffing website in California who is posting the same ads for them every few months. If you’re a PA, nanny or housekeeper in SoCal, you know where to find the listings. Every few months, same listing, same housekeeping and assistant duties, the kids just get older. And no, I’m not posting any links. I believe what is being written about Meghan.
